The show has a new title and a new platform but the content of what is now called "Somebody Feed Phil" is the same. Currently streaming on Netflix after its season on PBS, the hourlong series formerly known as "I'll Have What Phil's Having" takes its host, Phil Rosenthal – best known as the creator/writer/executive producer of the long-running sitcom "Everybody Loves Raymond" – to worldwide locations such as Bangkok, Saigon, Lisbon, New Orleans, Mexico City and Tel Aviv, to check out the local scene, including the people, the landscape, the culture and, most importantly, the cuisine. "These are touristy spots that I've started with," Rosenthal explains, "and they're touristy for a reason – because they're wonderful. And as the show continues, just like in life if you're a traveler, you get a little bit further and further afield. You go to places that maybe weren't the first places you think of for a vacation. I went to Vietnam on this one and that was a little bit out of my comfort zone in terms of thinking, 'Where would I go? Where would I tell people to go on a vacation?' But everyone was telling me Vietnam's their favorite place they've ever been." Probably the most exotic meal Rosenthal had in this set of episodes was the crab omelet he dined on in a higher-end restaurant in Bangkok, which he says ran about $30 (and would cost around $90 in the states) but could feed two people. If you wanted to eat on the cheap, he says, the seaside Thai capital offered plenty of options in the neighborhood of $1 or $2. "There's these canals throughout and there's these beautiful floating markets that are so much fun ... ," Rosenthal says. "There's someone in a boat making pad thai noodles and they're the best you've ever had – and you eat them in the boat. I had so much fun. I mean, imagine a family trip – it couldn't get better than that. Disney has nothing on this." Phil Rosenthal What book are you currently reading? "Father Greg Boyle, his new book. ... I think it's called 'Tattoos on the Heart.' " What did you have for dinner last night? "I went to a wonderful L.A. restaurant called Baroo and it's run by Korean Americans who do a very eclectic menu of fermented foods. They specialize in fermented foods and ... I'm telling you this is some of the most delicious and innovative food in the world. I take great chefs to this place and they are blown away." What is your next project? "Oh, I have lots of ideas. I have an idea for a podcast I want to do with my friend David Wilde. ... I want to do a movie, a show where I interview my friends about how they made their movies. ... I have sitcom ideas. I have a book I want to write. I have a bunch of things I want to do. But right now, this is the number one priority, is this show." When was your last vacation where and why? "I had a stay-cation over this past Christmas break because we did so much traveling this year, so the family and I were just here in Los Angeles, which is a great place to have a vacation. ... You can see the world right here in L.A.
