The fi rst one on Friday, January 19 will be at the Centennial Hall in Salome at 7 p.m. Tickets for this show are available at the Reader's Oasis Bookstore or you can pay at the door. The cost of admission is $10 per person. Paul will also play two shows at the Quartzsite Senior Citizens Cen- ter on Moon Mountain Road on January 21 and 22. There will be two shows each day at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.. Tickets are $10 each and you can get advance tickets at Reader's Oasis Books. The doors will open at 1 p.m. for the afternoon show at 2, and again at 6 p.m. for the 7 p.m. show so you can get your tickets at the door. On Wednesday, January 31, Paul is going to be doing a very special benefi t concert to help the Quartzsite Roadrunners Gem and Mineral Club raise funds for schol- arships for local students. Tickets for this concert are also $10 each and are sold at the door. The Gem and Mineral Club is very active in our community, and they have been donating scholarships to our stu- dents for many years so they can further their education after they leave high school. Paul will be playing with several of his musical friends at each concert. He plays shuffl e blues and boogie woogie piano and sings mostly his own songs. He will be accompanied by several guest musicians at these concerts. Steve Hohstadt, guitar player, songwriter and producer of CDs of the shows, which will be available for sale at all the concerts. He writes his own music and plays at several folk music festivals in Texas and California and Nevada. Buddy Apfel, from Phoenix, plays trombone and tuba and will be at most of the concerts as well. He has played with such greats as Pete Fountain and Guy Lombardo. He is well known for his beautiful handlebar mustache. There may be other special guests at some of these concerts as well. These musi- cians have been playing for the past several years together with Paul and their music sounds fantastic. They have several new CDs available as well as DVDs of their shows for the past several years. Paul recently was interviewed and fi lmed for a new documentary of his life as Sweet Pie and as Paul Winer now. It will be available as a DVD next month and is a 2 1/2 hour fi lm done by Justin Bouchard. They plan to show it at some fi lm festivals and it will also be online. Advance orders for a limited edition DVD are being taken at the bookstore and at the shows. Paul also has several concerts coming up in February as well, so keep looking in this paper for dates and times. Whoo Hoo!!!
