Over the summer, Emerging Leader Madeleine Stanley '16 and I attended convention in St. Louis to celebrate Pi Beta Phi's 150th year! After primary recruitment, we welcomed 116 New Members. We had many events planned for the semester, including our biggest philanthropic event yet, date dashes, Fathers' Weekend, formal and much more! It is our goal this year to work on increasing our chapter GPA, and we are taking the steps necessary to do so. We have implemented structured study times as well as electronic study files, and have given out awards for high grades each week. This year, we raised our GPA requirement to a 3.3 high school GPA for recruitment. We had a blast planning Layups for Literacy, a basketball tournament where people in the community formed teams and helped raise money for Read > Lead > AchieveĀ®. It was our goal to engage the whole fraternity and sorority community and include children from the Boulder Family Learning Center in this event. Elyse Himmelstein '15, our New Member Coordinator, is excited about all of our New Members and helped make our New Member experience even better by including more sisterhoods so New Members could bond. Our chapter put a lot of emphasis on our Big/Little programing to ensure all of our New Members have a good mentor throughout college. During Sparkle Week, we had mock datebooks with Kappa Alpha Theta and Delta Gamma. We had a great time learning from other sororities on campus. This semester, we had mixers planned with Phi Psi and Sigma Alpha Epsilon. Overall, Colorado Alpha had a great start to the semester. We would like to thank Samantha Dyar, our LDC who came during Sparkle Week. She had great input for our chapter! Colorado Alpha would also like to extend an invitation out to all alumnae to come and visit our home! In Pi Phi, Nicole Pool '15 Outgoing Chapter President nipo2606@colorado.edu Kim Sanbach '16, Ava Longacre '16 and Haven Perconti '16 on Bid Day! Sophomores with Chip, our school mascot, helping move freshmen into the dorms.
