he results of our chapter house renovations over the summer break are
in, and we are delighted! From the freshly painted exterior, with new
bronze XΩ letters over the doorway, to the elegant main floor interior, there
is a visual feast and gracious comfort for all to enjoy.
Beautiful New Updates
Old carpets were removed, and the hardwood floors were restored to their
original beauty. Fresh colors on the walls of the foyer and living room made
the spaces light and airy, and both fireplaces were outfitted with Mendota
gas logs. Stylish new pieces from Precedent of Sherrill Furniture were in-
troduced with a color palate of gray, blue, and lavender. A game table was
custom made to fit the front bay window, which is always a desired spot for
studying and conversations. Fine existing pieces were reupholstered with
fabrics, including velvet and soft floral Belgian linen, harmonizing window
treatments were created, and contemporary artwork was hung. The garden
room has a striking wall of vintage botanical prints, perfectly tying the
indoors to the newer deck and patio. The dreary '50s-era kitchenette in
the chapter room is just a bad memory now, with a gleaming modern nook
in its place. The powder room now is a lovely soft lavender with all new
fixtures, tile floor, and a mother-of-pearl mosaic framed mirror to welcome
our guests.
Thank You to Our Professional Team
An amazing team of professionals made this dream a reality. We thank
our wonderful house director, Daisy West, for being the visionary project
manager. The interior design and acquisition was by the team at Taylorblue
Design on Claremont Avenue: Lani Taylor, Lydia Luong, and Lisa Delos-
so. The kitchenette and powder room were the work of Erb and Sons Con-
tracting. Gas fireplaces and chimney alteration were completed by Hoff-
man Masonry Construction, while painting was done by Arana Craftsman
Painters. The floors were completed by Marzolf Brothers Construction. We
are grateful for these talented and professional groups. Thank you to the
corporation board for their support throughout this process. I encourage
you to stop by the chapter house to see the updates whenever you are in
the area.
