Mu Chapter of Chi Omega at the University of California-Berkeley Fall 2017
62 New Members Welcomed
Leaders in Philanthropy and Campus Events
S
ummer was no break for our adventurous and
hardworking sisters! Members of Mu chapter traveled
across the world to countries including Israel, Cuba,
Thailand, and parts of Europe. Others kept busy with
summer jobs and internships. Justine Garvin '15 interned
at Charles Schwab, Brooke Kean '15 interned for the
National Academy of Medicine in Washington, D.C., and
Adele Bloch '17 interned for DoorDash in New York.
We are so proud of our sisters and all of their incredible
accomplishments!
WELCOME, NEW HOOTIES!
Mu chapter had a wonderful start to this school year, with
an exceptional fall formal recruitment led by Recruitment
Chairman Julia Landreth '17. We had a blast welcoming our 62 new
members into our sisterhood with an Up-themed Bid Day planned by New
Member Educator Bonnie Sarchet '16, complete with mug painting at a
local art studio. Since then, our Fall Recruitment Class has enjoyed new
member class hikes, sleepovers, pool parties, and more. Our new members
were presented to their families by their big sisters during Homecoming
weekend, and we were thrilled to show them off.
CHI OMEGA ON CAMPUS
Our sisters shine on campus through all of their involvements. Laurel
Nelson '17 and Jiyune Ha '17 represent women in STEM as members
of the Society of Women Engineers. Fiona Massana '17 shows off her
skills on the Cal club gymnastics team. Juliet Swanson
'17 serves as the president of FeelGood, a popular student
club that sells grilled cheese to help end world hunger. Chi
Omega even has representation in the Cal Sports Medicine
program, where Noelle Nisco '17 serves as an intern. We
continue to be amazed by all of our sisters' achievements.
WHAT'S AHEAD FOR MU
We are so excited for the many upcoming sisterhood
events: an '80s-themed roller-skating event planned by
Social Chairman Natalie Johnson '15 and Sisterhood
Chairman Kira Barsten '17, our semiannual Scholarship
Dinner hosted by Vice President Hayleigh Shobar
'16, Chi-O Casino, a philanthropic event planned by
Philanthropy Chairman Hannah Farrell '16, and the slating of our next
executive board.
To our wonderful alumnae, please feel free to stop by the chapter house
anytime. We would love to give you a house tour, or have brunch or dinner
with you. Hope to see you soon!
Loyally,
