DELTA PSI NEWS Kappa Kappa Gamma • Texas Tech University Fall 2017 Delta Psi Lodge Officially Opened! Sisters Gathered at the Grand Opening Ceremony in September T he Delta Psi lodge officially opened the weekend of September 22-23. The grand opening weekend began on Friday with a reminiscing and cocktails event in the lovely home of Cathy Spoonts Porter '70. Alumnae of all ages enjoyed the time to reconnect with their sisters. On Saturday morning, the Delta Psi actives, house board, and Lubbock Alumnae Association welcomed more than 300 alumnae, parents, and friends to the new lodge. The program recognized donors and thanked Condray Design, Lee Lewis Construction, Prosperity Bank, Susan West Cannon '77, and Vicki Lafitte Gay '72 for their work in making the new lodge a reality. We learned about Delta Psi history, recognized chapter successes, and were entertained by the Pickers. Pledge classes made pictures with their composites. It was a morning of fun and sisterhood. The chapter hosted a cookout afterward and served more than 950 hamburgers to family, friends, and alumnae. Later, alumnae met actives on campus for a walking tour of Texas Tech. Finally, the weekend ended at McPherson Cellars. The Saturday evening event offered Kappas the chance to sample Lubbock wines and celebrate the opening of the new lodge. The grand opening weekend was a terrific time for Kappas, friends, and family. The poem on page 4 describes the feelings about the Delta Psi lodge.
