Jody H. Wallace '51 is an income tax
preparation volunteer for AARP. She is active
in many church activities and loves yard work,
reading, and travel. Jody and her husband,
Mark, live in Annapolis, Md.
Rosemary Weeks Thornton '54 and her
husband, Melvin, are happily retired and now
live part-time in their log cabin near Valentine,
Neb., and a mile from the Niobrara River.
They travel often to visit their children and
grandchildren who live in four different time

Betty Tomsen Kempf '57 loves that Gamma
Phi Beta has been in her life since 1957. In
1963, she helped establish the Rho Kappa
Chapter at Kearney State College, now
University of Nebraska-Kearney. She has
been involved with that chapter and Kearney
area alumnae most of her adult life. She
attended her 10th convention in 2016 in
Atlanta with her three G-Phi daughters and
granddaughter, who are active at UNK. E-mail:

Since retiring in 2011, Joan Beerline Szabo
'62 is staying busy with her swimming, book
club, bridge and church activities. She still
enjoys going to the theater and dance concerts.
Her two children, Lynze and Glen, both live in
New York City, N.Y. Joan lives in Bloomfield,

Jean Weinert Metzger '66 is celebrating
40 years in the optometric business. After
30 years in Hiawatha, Kan., she and her
husband, John, moved to the Kansas City
area and opened a practice of specialized
optometry. They now see patients for
developmental vision therapy, low vision sub-
normal care, and neuro-optometric care, which
serves people with visual and brain stress
due to concussions and strokes. They also
enjoy supporting their grandchildren in theater
productions, gymnastics meets, baseball
games, and cheerleading events. E-mail:

Andrea Matya Hazen '68 retired after 42 years
at Bergan Mercy Hospital in rehab services.
She enjoys spending time with her seven
grandchildren and all of their activities. Andrea
and her husband, Gage, have a mountain
cabin in Allenspark, Co., and go there four or
five times between May and October every
year. Their other traveling involves family
activities all year long.
Jill Ivers Nelson '98 and her husband,
Michael, and their son Max, welcomed Charles
William to their family on August 4. He is a
sweet, funny, and loving boy who completes

Liz Neeser '01 and her husband, Mark,
welcomed a son into their family at the end
of June.
Caitlin Drummy '10 is the Moonball specialist
for Gamma Phi Beta chapters in Regions Five
and Six and a special recruitment consultant
for Eta Iota Chapter at the University of
