Karol Hargis Davis '57 enjoys playing music
for her church and is an accompanist for a
singing group of 25 women, called "The Melody
Belles." Karol and six other Alpha Xi sisters
have an annual reunion, traveling from across
the country to see each other. The group started
their freshman year at SMU among pledge sisters
who lived together all three years at 3030 Daniel.
Karol loves reminiscing about the sisterhood

Marguerite Austin Joyner '58 shares that
after she graduated from SMU in 1961, she got
married and had two children. She spent her
career as a teacher until she was 74. Marguerite
now spends her retirement reading, cooking,
enjoying art, and spending time with her great-
grandchildren. She sends her love to all of her

Linda Edwards Haney '69 retired from her
job as an educational technologist in 2015. She
volunteers at the Houston City Library and the
Texas Wildlife Rescue. Linda and her husband,

Carol Turner Chappell '73 spends her time
as a full-time volunteer at her church, where
she cooks and helps in the library. She and her
husband, Scott, follow their daughter, who is a
Gamma Phi Beta from TCU, in her opera career.

Annie Sebastian Fiette '74 owns an equestrian
center and teaches English horseback riding
lessons, boards horses, and hosts summer riding
camps at the center. Annie and her husband,

Susan Carter Slocomb '79 went back to school
at the University of North Texas School of Music
in 2010 and earned her degree in vocal music
education. She has two children: Olivia, who
graduated from the University of North Texas,
and J.T., who graduated from the University of
Texas-Austin in 2010. Susan lives in Denton,

Kelley Miller '83 completed her master's degree
at Boise State in 2005 and has worked in the
training and development field for more than 21
years, specializing in e-learning and technology.
Kelley is a solar system ambassador for NASA's
Jet Propulsion Laboratory, where she works
with children to heighten their interests in the

states, members of Gamma Phi
Beta "promote lifelong commitment,
intellectual and personal growth and
service to humanity." One of the best
ways to honor that lifelong commitment after we
graduate is by becoming involved with an alumnae group
in your area. Active alumnae chapter members enjoy
networking opportunities and fellowship. With more
than 150 active alumnae chapters, it is possible there is a
group by you. Additionally, Alpha Xi Chapter is especially fortunate to have alumnae members from
other chapters residing in the Dallas area who serve as advisors, board members, and volunteers. It
is possible one of the 140 active Gamma Phi collegiate chapters is near you and looking for alumnae
