7 A 20-year-old junior from Pasadena, California, and the third of four siblings, William "Will" Wilson '16 studies business, finance, and marketing at the UW's Foster School of Business and maintains a 3.8 GPA. He is a recipient of Mu Chapter's Jack Merrill Scholarship, has always been at the top of his class, is in the UW business honors program, and hopes to graduate summa cum laude. His story is nothing short of remarkable. Though Will has been involved in the Mu Chapter in a multitude of ways, when asked about him, his chapter brothers frequently say he is the guy behind the camera. Will is Mu Chap- ter's special events photographer, capturing events like Founders Day, and serving as contributing photographer for The Musings. KEEN PHOTOGRAPHIC PERSPECTIVE Having a trained eye allows Will to see the world differently than most. He has an innate ability to see what other people miss, and with his keen photographic perspective, can capture his surroundings with precision and incredible composition. While it is one thing to merely capture an image, it is another to be able to depict the richness of reality in a single photograph. Passionate. "I am the lens," Will stated. "I am a cre- ative being, and photography is the driving course of my creativity." He reveals that photography is his utmost passion and that he typically does not see things at "surface level." Rather, Will takes the time to see where things originate and why they are there. "That curiosity drives me," he added. "I live for the larger picture and its composition, whether that be photography or an abstract idea." Extensively observant. "I sense everything in my surroundings, picking up on what others may not see as important. I can sit down, cut out noise, and focus entirely on my surroundings." Will shared. "This ability allows me to notice great detail, which translates well into my work." A storyteller. He tells stories in his images. People like Will are among the most creative people in our society, using his craft to shape everything we are familiar with. He sees life microscopically, beyond face value and into its greater design, and his photographic stories reflect it. Though he is too humble to admit it, at 20 years old, his life is already proof of his artful process and potential. NATURAL CURIOSITY OF THE WORLD Will has always had a natural curiosity of the world around him and, with his innate desire to see more, learn more, and experi- ence more, Will misses nothing. French Polynesia apprenticing with Tim McKenna. "I had the opportunity to go to French Polynesia and Tahiti to apprentice with one of the most famous surf and lifestyle photog- raphers, Tim McKenna. Working with Tim was where I learned many professional and creative skills. Living and working in Tahiti for six months over two summers, I had the opportunity to work with Red Bull, Apple, Victoria's Secret, Surfline Magazine, World Surf League, Air Tahiti, Stab Magazine, and others".
