Thank you. F rom the moment Jessica Procter '14 attended Alpha Gamma Delta's annual Christmas tea, she knew Psi Chapter was her home away from home. The sisterhood she witnessed that day has carried her through the highest and lowest points of her life. "The genuine care we give to one another creates lasting friendships and lifelong bonds. Even after you graduate, you never truly stop experiencing the sisterhood." Though miles away competing in the Miss America pageant, Jessica still felt these strong bonds actively supporting her. The other pageant contestants witnessed firsthand just how meaningful the Psi Chapter sisterhood is when 12 sisters, including alumnae Cindy Wicks '81, Anne Jones '83, and Mary Lou Mize Tucker '82, made a special trip to cheer Jessica on. "Growing up, I never thought I would find a community of women that celebrate and truly love one another. It was the sweetest expression of friendship that my sisters took the time to support me." Even before the pageant, Psi Chapter provided an environment where Jessica could grow, learn, and confidently pursue her goals. As a freshman, she was inspired by her sisters and their devotion to philanthropy. "I had volunteered numerous times before, but it never truly hit home until I became Fifth Quarter chairman and then vice president of philanthropy." The experience she gained during these positions influenced her to engage Alpha Gamma Delta on a national level. Despite roadblocks, Jessica persevered and began conversations with the organization to focus on fighting hunger nationwide. "Everything I had been working toward came to fruition the day I spoke to hundreds of Alpha Gam women in Indiana. The fact that both my passion for my platform and my sorority coincided became a defining moment and huge milestone in my life." While her time as an undergraduate is complete, Jessica knows she can still contribute to ΑΓΔ as an alumna. "Alumnae serve as role models for current and future members. I encourage everyone to pour the same level of commitment into their fellow sisters that they received and continue to receive daily." Jessica enjoys visiting the chapter house often and thanks ΑΓΔ for their continued support. She can be reached at jjprocter@crimson.ua.edu.
