CHI OMEGA 3 Χ Ω N u Chapter has made great strides in the past few months. I am thrilled to report the incredible dedication our undergraduate members have to academics, philanthropy, and recruitment. We hope to continue this momentum as leaders on campus and in the Greek community. NU CHAPTER WELCOMES 61 NEW MEMBERS First, we welcomed a large new member class of 61 women in September. Sisters worked hard to put together a Bid Day theme. We are lucky to have welcomed such wonderful women to the ΧΩ sisterhood. SISTERS ACHIEVE HIGHEST GPA Second, our academic efforts paid off because Nu Chapter was awarded the highest spring semester GPA. We are extremely proud of all our academic achievements and continue to hold scholarship as a main focal point of our values. CHAPTER HOSTS SUCCESSFUL WALK IT OUT FOR WISHES In October, we hosted a successful philanthropy event for the Make-a-Wish Foundation called Walk It Out for Wishes. Not only did we have an overwhelming response from the community, but our sisters also thoroughly enjoyed spending time with Wish Kids as they walked the runway. It was truly an amazing experience! We could not have achieved so much without the support of our sisters, family, and friends. In passing the torch, I am confident we will have many more semesters of excellence. Alumnae are an important part of contributing to this excellence and we encourage you to reach out or stop by and visit 115 Langdon any time. SISTER SPOTLIGHT CHAPTER SPOTLIGHT: HUMOROLOGY DIRECTORS EMILY IZENMAN '16, DINA SCHULMAN '16, AND SAMANTHA WYNN '16 Nu Chapter is so excited to be participating in Humorology this year. Humorology is a philanthropic organization where students create original mini-musicals. Throughout the year, we raise money for a philanthropy of choice. This year, the organization has chosen to partner with The Neighborhood House Community Center, a diverse and inclusive community center that offers a variety of activities and programs for underserved families and immigrants in the area. Chi Omega, along with our teammates Sigma Delta Tau, Psi Upsilon, Delta Upsilon, and Phi Delta Theta, is excited to contribute to Neighborhood House's program expansion and renovations. We have loved practicing our songs and dances, acting, and fundraising! If you're interested in donating, please reach out to the Chapter for more information. SENIOR SPOTLIGHT: TAYLOR PALMBY '15 This semester has been incredibly busy, but I am having a blast! I am the editor in chief of a student- run magazine called Curb. The publication is distributed to 10,000 alumni across the state. Fundraising, creating content, and editing has been an amazing experience. I also teach cycling classes at Cyc fitness. I was lucky enough to teach a ride class for Make-a-Wish's Week of Wishes. I love working at Cyc, especially when I get to use my job to give back. Lastly, I'm the editor for The Tab, which is a national news organization. This has developed into an internship opportunity this summer in New York. Julia Knight '15 has been an amazing new addition to the team. ABROAD SPOTLIGHT: STEPHANIE KURENSKY '14 Last semester, I studied abroad in London at City University/The Cass Business School. This was an incredible opportunity as I got to take classes and learn in one of the business capitals of the world. Living in London was amazing because there was constantly something new to do. I explored different neighborhoods of London, saw multiple plays, went to museums, and ate at all the different markets. I also got to travel on the weekends to different countries in Europe. This experience pushed me out of my comfort zone, and I learned so much about myself. Studying abroad has been one of my most memorable parts of college. I strongly encourage everyone to go if they can! ACADEMIC SPOTLIGHT: NICOLE FOREST '15 I am a junior majoring in communication arts and digital studies. In my communication arts major, I learn about how and why people communicate the way they do and study different communication and relationship patterns. In my digital studies certificate, I am learning to use tools for the digital age of communication, including basic coding and sound/video editing. I am confident that these people skills and digital skills will be useful in the real world. I feel fortunate to have a support system of intelligent Chi Omega sisters who put scholarship first. They give me invaluable advice about classes, study with me into the late hours of the night, and provide endless support. I am excited to continue to learn more about communication at UW-Madison, as well as during my spring semester abroad in Cape Town, South Africa!
