ALUMNI UPDATE
CHAPTER ETERNAL
Robert L. Simpson '54 entered Chapter Eternal
in August 2016. His daughter, Susie, reports,
"My dad never stopped being an Iowa State
fan, and even had his room at the care center
decorated with all his Iowa State items." Robert
is survived by his wife, Judy; children, Robert,
Susie, Thomas, and Sally; five grandchildren;
other relatives; and many friends.
ALUMNI NEWS
Dr. George T. Fisher '49 is recovering from
heart surgery, but reports that he's still driving
and enjoying a normal life with his ATW bride
of 65 years, Kathryn. His hobbies include
collecting classic comics and character watches,
and he also conducts men's singing groups.
George and Kathryn live in Franklin, N.C.
Maj. Garth E. Phillips '58 bought a house
near Jacksonville, Fla., for his daughter,
Amy, granddaughters, and himself after his
wife and son-in-law passed away. E-mail:

John M. Rowe '70 is publishing a book this
fall entitled Firmly Anchored in Midair, The
Handbook of Wireless Site Acquisition and

George W. Clendaniel '74 started a yard
maintenance company working everyday ("four
to five hours max!"). He also reports that he's in
the best shape he's been in years. "I think I was
the top gym rat of the house in 1975!" George
lives in Blairsville, Ga.

Sean H. Crow '02 and his wife, Allie, welcomed
their daughter, Elise, in July. Sean is looking to
change careers from real estate sales to aviation,
his true passion. He and Allie live in Des Moines,
