TAU TALK ALPHA TAU OMEGA AT IOWA STATE UNIVERSITY FALL 2017 Gamma Upsilon Scholarship Endowment Surpasses $900,000 I am humbled to report the recent successes and a general cultural change evident in, as Gene Ehlert '59 would say, "Some of the best young men in America." The level of execution and the strong signs of personal integrity flow throughout the membership. Back-to-back True Merit awards and many individual and organizational awards are tangible signs of the progress. Academic achievement is beyond any threshold I've ever seen. Another exciting mark to report is that the support from our alumni base has allowed us to surpass the $900,000 level for the scholarship endowments. The contributions through this fund are a direct correlation to the aforementioned successes and what allows Gamma Upsilon to have a significant presence at Iowa State. Next year we will celebrate many milestones, including the 110th anniversary of the chapter, which we have settled on the weekend of August 10-12, 2018. More information will come, so please reach out to ATOgammaupsilonARO@ gmail.com if any of your contact information needs to be updated so the appropriate invitation gets to you. The chapter itself is in the process of some cosmetic updates thanks to a Danielle Loven, a current member's mother (Mac Loven '16), and our dedicated house director, Mike Kelly. I look forward to all of our brothers stopping by to see the updates and taking in all of the recent successes. Also on the horizon is a milestone achievement for two of our board members. More to come on a formal recognition for a couple of lifelong loyal Gamma Upsilon Taus. Fraternally, Michael Nelson '07 Board of Trustees President michael.nelsonjr@gmail.com Left: Brothers Peter Gallos '13 and Nick Colletta '14 organized Iowa Gamma's first paintball outing. Right: The Gamma Upsilon executive board at the annual exec retreat. A fter an eventful summer, Gamma Upsilon is True Merit worthy for the second year in a row. The chapter looks better every day with thriving efforts everywhere. There is a ton to be excited about this year. Not only does the chapter have a new piece for our trophy case, but with the newest renovations to the house this summer, the facility looks amazing. Updated stairs, guest bathroom, dining room, and new paint throughout the house make it a comfy place to live. Be sure to check it out when you get the chance because all the hard work put in from the generous donations and coordinating of the renovations has truly paid off.
