We are looking forward to our annual brotherhood retreat and electing our new top officers in November. Big Brother Program We have a monthly luncheon with alumni at the Kenwood Country Club where brothers get the opportunity to connect with alumni and hear from a keynote speaker on his experience in the Cincinnati community. Aer launching an alum- ni big brother program in 2015, we continue to implement and improve the program. We paired alumni brothers with undergraduate brothers to help the undergraduates grow while they are in college. "I joined Sigma Chi because I wanted to form a strong social network and feel more connected," he shared. At that time, Nathan had no idea how much joining such an organization would impact his life. Nathan earned his bachelor's degree in finance and interna- tional business and his master's in accounting with a taxation focus. He is the president of Taxman Brewing Company, a company he runs with his wife, sister, and brother-in-law. To- gether they own and operate two farm-to-table gastropubs in Bargersville and Fortville, Indiana. Having held offices as an undergraduate, Nathan was able to apply what he learned as an officer to his career. As the chapter's treasurer, "Being responsible for the finance side of the fraternity helped reinforce the importance of accurate budgeting and forecasting," said Nathan. is is one of the key skill sets he took with him into running his own business. Many alumni were able to help Nathan figure out which pro- fessional path he would take, challenging him and helping his dreams take shape over time. Nathan shared, "Experiences, especially those that challenge you and push you outside of your comfort zone, might be essential to helping you realize your dreams." Learning the necessary skills, taking advantage of opportunities, and maintaining a positive attitude are all things Nathan learned in his life, and wisdom he imparts to current active members. Although he and his wife don't have much free time as busi- ness owners, they do enjoy traveling and trying new food and beverages. ey have two Boston terriers and like to snow ski. In his life now, Nathan measures his success not in a monetary sense, but in the quality of his relationships. "Brotherhood and staying connected with other alumni gives me tremendous joy; life wouldn't be as bright without these relationships." You can connect with Nathan at nathan@taxmanbrewing.com.
