how do you measure quality?
Quality means different things to different people.
To Joseph Taylor it means being around to fight another fire.
Last June, Joseph was helping the Big Marsh Volunteer Fire Department fight a mobile home blaze when he suddenly felt ill.
Luckily his friend, Earl Johnson, Commander of St. Pauls EMS, was there and recognized the signs of
a heart attack. Earl also knew that Cape Fear Valley Medical Center was a designated STEMI facility, meaning they had a team in place to open blocked arteries around the clock.
In the cardiac catheterization lab, the team opened up a blocked stent in Tayor’s heart. The crushing pain Taylor felt immediately went away. A few hours later, he was even able to sit up and talk about his heart attack with his EMS rescuers.
cape fear valley is a nationally accredited chest pain center, which means it follows strict protocols and best practices to quickly identify heart attack patients and get them treatment. cape fear valley is the only one between the triangle and the coast.
