Kevin Stitt '96 Edward El Rassi '08 R obin Wantland '77 writes to us about his fond memories and experiences of Beta then and now. "Having grown up in Norman, I did not know anybody at OSU except my cousin, David Fisher '75. Join- ing Beta was one of the most fulfill- ing things to happen to me during college. Not only did I get to devel- op my leadership skills as president of our pledge class, but I got to be part of an unbelievable class of young men who all wanted to 'make a difference' as Betas. As a result, during my four years, we won Varsity Revue, Spring Sing, and the all-sports trophies consistently. In addition, we blossomed as the Big Red Island during my freshman year. I was mentored by some older brothers who helped mold me. Shortly after receiving my MBA at OSU, I moved to Dallas some 39 years ago to start my career in banking. "My time in the Beta house was so instrumental in establishing my con- fidence and social skills to allow me to 'make a difference' in the banking industry. Along with my wife and four kids and now three sons-in-law and four grandkids, I have loved my time in Dallas and have fond mem- ories of all the growing up that we did while in the Beta house at OSU. "As an example of how close we have kept, I hiked the rim-to-rim hike in the Grand Canyon a few summers ago with Tom Snyder '77 and Bill Arhberg '78. Of course, we had a special time just being together in the Grand Canyon, but it could not have been any better than being there with two of my favorite Betas. I was blessed to have six of my pledge brothers suprise me in attending my dear mother's memorial service in Edmond last April. All I can say is I thank God I'm a Beta!"
