THE DELTA NEWS 3 zation in 2013. Receiving True Merit Honorable Mention was a testament to our hard work and dedication to ATΩ. Rekindling a Commitment to Philanthropy anks to Dante Rodondi '19, we are increasing our philanthropic efforts to expand the Safe Kids Grand Forks message. We have made improve- ments to our traditional recruitment schedule to include a Mini-Golf House Tour allowing poten- tial new members to see our temporary home in a creative light. We also held a fundraiser hot dog feed following the annual UND Potato Bowl. As we continue building this appreciation for community service, we anticipate a record-break- ing year for our fundraising efforts. In April, we hosted Safe Kids Day and Grilled Cheese Feed, which raised $400 to benefit Safe Kids Grand Forks. ese events help educate the community on injury prevention. Brothers assisted the event by coordinating event setup, working stations, and cleaning up the event site. We have continued our momentum this semes- ter by hosting our Mini Masters philanthropy in October, featuring a nine-hole course. Brothers helped with event registration, tabulating golf scores, and entertaining guests while they were waiting in line. Delta Nu Takes the Lead is year for intramurals we have more brothers participating in Greek life sorority events. By do- ing so, we have placed in the top three on cam- pus for every event. Also, we have more brothers competing in our intramural ice hockey team this year. We have a strong offense led by Andrew Martinson '20, John Towey '19, and August Ca- dotte '19. Our defense is led by Al Grentz '20, who plays goalie. roughout the semester we will continue to do well in athletics and utilize our new space for more weekly brotherhood activities like theater night, bonfires, and board game night. Brothers Improve Chapter GPA We have seen tremendous improvement in our all-chapter GPA, and we believe this trend will continue. e amount of work and dedication our new members have to their studies is well-re- flected in their GPA as well as the number of study hours they have been able to log. By con- tinuing to follow the ATΩ STUDS, in which the first S stands for scholarship, we can set ourselves up for future success by ensuring that the men we invite into our brotherhood are already academ- ically successful. Brothers report their study hour progression to David Sexter '17 on a weekly or biweekly basis. David is increasing the minimum study hour requirement to 20 hours and maintaining a list of every brother's major and areas of expertise to help with peer tutoring. With all of the men working together toward the goal of upliing each other academically, we are certain our chap- ter will continue to do great things. If this success, accompanied by the success we have had early this fall, continues, then we are confident the chapter is moving in an upward trajectory. However, this success would not be possible without the support of our loyal alum- ni. We want to thank and extend an invitation to all Delta Nu alumni to visit us and witness our growth. Welcome, Fall 2017 New Members D elta Nu's new member process has undergone many changes over the years, but our current system is one of the best. New members pledging Alpha Tau Omega begin their journey through their membership ed- ucation classes. e classes are designed to inform our pledges about a variety of topics ranging from risk management to local and national history. Apart from the lessons, new members are encouraged to participate in all aspects of the fraternity. Whether it be attending committees or participating in philanthropies, our pledges are given many opportunities to grow as members of ATΩ. With a chapter house to utilize as a resource, new members of ATΩ will now be able to bond with brothers more than ever before if they chose to live in. Breyar Baker LaMoure, N.D.
