Dear Brother, The time has finally come to ask the question, "What is it going to take for your support of the Chapter House Revitalization Project?" For over a year, the Central Illinois Alumni Association (CIAA) leadership has made you privy to our plans via newsletters, Facebook, e-mails, and CIAA membership meetings. This is much more than a brick project for the front stoop. This should not come as shock, but we are going to need your financial support to complete this immense project. Here are the facts. We have a goal to raise a minimum of $500,000. This is a significant amount but necessary if we are to complete the project properly. The first $100,000 is to retire the existing mortgage on our properties (956 and 964 Sixth Street). We have a man- datory installation of a sprinkler system that will cost approximately $85,000. Two huge hits! Then the building/remodeling costs are $200,000. It is estimated that appliances and furnishings for the house are another $80,000. The remainder of the funds will be used to endow the future Housemother position. So that the alumni are not the only ones to have skin in the game, each initiate, beginning in 2018, will be required to sign a $500 prom- issory note. It will be payable within five years after graduation. These funds will be placed into a reserve fund to maintain the Chapter House. Not to be too blunt, but we are expecting the entire Brotherhood to step up to the plate. Of course, everyone's ability to fund the project is different. We expect the bulk of our dona- tions to come in between $250-$500, but we are looking for 200 Brothers to commit to the Esteemed Four Giving Program (EFGP). The EFGP represents the strength and commitment from four of our most supportive alumni lead- ers; Bertrand P. Holley, Eli R. Sidwell Jr., Denny Stewart, and Genevieve "Mom" Slevin. EFGP donors will commit to five payments of $500 over the next five years. Your minimum gift of $2,500 will have you recognized on the marker that will commemorate the Chapter's 70th anniversary of its chartering ( June 10, 2019). This date will coincide with the grand reopening of the Chapter House. A new rock for a new facility! Finally, I am putting out a special request to any Brother who feels they can provide addi- tional financial support to the project. Special considerations can be made for a special dona- tion. Please reach out to me if you can help in this very special and generous way. The CIAA is a member of the Society for the Preservation of Greek Housing. This group will receive our donations so that some of the donations can be tax-deductible. Please look through the pages of this special edition of the Beta-Gamma Gab. It will detail our plans and upcoming special events. Also, you can complete your giving form. We are hoping to announce in the fall at Homecoming festivities that we have met our goal. I truly appreciate your willingness to support this project. Not a minor undertaking, but import- ant to secure our future as an elite Chapter.
