In doing so, she met the women of Sigma Kappa, who welcomed her with open arms. They were all so much fun and kind, and the house was in a prime location on campus. The four years Stacy was an active member of Xi Chapter, she learned valuable skills, which she utilizes often in her career. "Working with the other girls and serving on committees feels a lot like the workings of a small business; sometimes you get along, sometimes you don't, but at the end of the day you realize you're all part of the same family." Speaking of family, this fall marks the first semester for Stacy's mom, Sally, in the role of Xi Chapter house director. "It's kind of strange to see her at the house in this capacity, because when I was there my mom was in the parent's group. She knows the house very well and now she's living there with the other girls! "My mom was a Tri Delta, so I think she secretly wanted me to join Tri Delta at first, but when I joined Sigma Kappa, she was happy for me. Now she's living with the Sigma Kappa women, so we've come full circle. My daughter is a member of Tri Delta at KU, and at times she is envious that my mom and I are sharing a connection through Sigma Kappa (even though she and my mom have their own bond through Tri Delta). When my mom retired and moved to the Kansas City area to be closer to my family and sister, I could tell that something was missing for her. She needed the connection to a college, and people. She has worked on a college campus before, and she loved it. After talking to the Corporation Board at Sigma Kappa, I knew my mom would be perfect for the house director role. When she took the job and moved to Lawrence, I could immediately tell how happy she was." Since graduating, Stacy has remained involved with Xi Chapter's alumnae association, and has attended a few events as well. "I think the chapter is totally revitalized. It's in the best location on campus, the house is beautiful, and it has so much energy with a membership full of confident women. I feel good about the future of the chapter; they've had ups and downs like all chapters do, but it's made them stronger. Even my mom says this is an amazing, confident group of girls. Sigma Kappa is a place where you grow and gain confidence and self-assurance. That's what it did for me." Stacy is a senior sales manager for Samsung. She and her husband, Matt, live in Overland Park, Kansas, and have two daughters, Katie and Madeline. Stacy enjoys traveling and remodeling and redecorating houses. She and Matt are currently remodeling a house built in 1938. You can contact Stacy at smaloney1@me.com. President Sydney Bannister '15 Manhattan, Kan.
