During Carlson Leadership Academy (CLA) in February, the active members of the Fraternity completely revamped their brotherhood and membership development programs to better capture the ideals of The Balanced Man. This transformation focuses on a renewed commitment to leadership development and brothers as individual contributors both in the house and on campus. Introduction of Mentorship Program In full support of this new vision, the Alumni Volunteer Committee has formed a mentorship program with the executive board, pairing each officer with an alumni member possessing past experience in their office. This guidance has proved a successful structure for further development and capability of the executive board as well as the availability of the AVC members. The AVC itself has welcomed in a new president, Ryan Seaver '07, who has spearheaded the formation of the mentorship program and taken the reigns on leadership development for the active brothers. Alpha Buffalo Returns We have continued renovations to the interior of the Chapter House, refinishing the first-floor wood floors and installing new carpet throughout, including in the main lounge. In addition, Allen Robie '82 has returned a buffalo to the property, and "Alpha" presides over the Hickman study. A new pool table puts the finishing touches on the first floor, a space that has now been completely renovated over the past two years. These new spaces have allowed the occupants to better study, relax, and bond throughout their days as brothers. I encourage all alumni to stop by the house whenever in Boulder, check out the improvements in person, and meet some of the active brothers. Reestablish Your SigEp Connections This year I have personally witnessed a renewed connection between the active brothers and alumni. This has benefitted both parties greatly as the young men in the house realize more than ever they are part of something bigger, and what it truly means to be a SigEp beyond campus. As a member of the AVC, I have enjoyed the opportunity to learn from these young men and have been inspired by their dedication and focus to their new vision for the house. If you have ever wanted to become involved with the active brothers, the time is now. Fraternally, Mike Ramirez '11 AVC Secretary (707) 696-7162 | avc.coalpha@gmail.com The Alpha buffalo returns to take its place in the Hickman study room. After renovations, the new floor in the pool hall shines. Volunteer with Colorado Alpha As always, we continuously make new improvements to the Chapter House both inside and out as we keep pace with the growing number of active members. Additionally, we welcome donations and gifts to facilitate our ongoing improvement projects. If you would like to get involved with the AVC or serve as a mentor to future undergraduate executives or brothers, please contact avc.coalpha@gmail.com to get more information on upcoming meetings.
