Halloween party planned The Quartzsite Parks & Recre- ation Board members on working on plans for the annual Halloween event. This year, the FREE Event for the whole family will be held on Saturday, October 28th, 2017. The fun starts at 4pm inside the Community Center with Games, Cup Cake Walk, Pumpkin Decorat- ing Contest, Candy Counting Con- test, Costume Contest and Parade, Free Food, and of course, Prizes! Public is welcome to join the Trick or Treating - bring your friends, chair and some candy for the kids! Trick or Treating begins at 5:30pm along the walking path on E. Quail Trail between the Community Center and Town Hall. Businesses, RV parks, organizations and indi- viduals are all encouraged to hand out candy to kids on the Pumpkin Parkway. Plan for at 200-300 kids! The public is encouraged to deco- rate your tables and booths, too, as there will be prizes for the best decorated booth/station. The Haunted House will be put on by our Quartzsite youth, and will start at 6pm. Get ready to be scared out of your wits! The kids are cook- ing up a great Haunted House this year with new props and goodies. Remember the Fun starts at 4pm at Community Center, on Chan- dler. For more info call Town Hall 928-927-4333. Camel Express will be holding a Transit Advisory Committee meet- ing open to the public October 19, 2017 3:00pm at Quartzsite Town Hall 465 N Plymouth Avenue Transportation will be provided upon request. Moon Mountain, Ave., Quartzsite. Vaughn Dee Myers October 14, 1930 - July 17, 2017 Vaughn Dee Myers passed away at home in Quartzsite on July 17, 2017 at the age of 86. He was born in Pigeon Forge. Vaughn was in the US Air Force from 1948- 1952. He was a Life-Time Mason and had been active in the Elks and Toastmasters. He was a mechanic by trade working mostly in Wash- ington and Alaska. Vaughn spent many years on the Alaska Pipeline and The North Slope. He had his own business "M-2 Engine & Gear" Soldotna AK for a few years before he retired. Vaughn and Leta moved to Quartzsite in 1993. Vaughn had many friends and loved to tell jokes and stories. He vol- unteered at The Salvation Army, helped anyone and everyone at any time. When meeting new people, Vaughn's favorite saying was, "Hello, my name is Vaughn Myers and I am a hell of a nice guy," or "It was a pleasure for you to meet me." Vaughn had three sisters and one brother, Beulah Stumpe, Trula Go- rey, Troy Myers, and Fayette Basel. Three children Curtis, Doretta and Clinton; tow step-sons Ron and Randy Wilson. Vaughn is survived by his wife of 41 years, Leta Myers, five children, seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Vaughn was preceded in death by his father, John A. Myers, his mother Fora I. Starkey and sister Beulah Stumpe. At his request there were no services but his Memorial will be held October 14, 2017 at The Salvation Army at 10am. Jean Bridges Jean Bridges, age 79, passed away at home with family on September 22, 2017, after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was born in Scottsbluff, Nebraska and spent the majority of her life in Nevada. She loved to read and play the slot machines at local casinos. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Bridges, in 2014. She is survived by her children Jeannie McNulty (Todd) of Fallon Nv., Zon Yeaman of Reno,Nv., Garth (Skip) Yeaman of Pacifica Ca., and grandsons Kyle, Mathew, and Jared. She requested that there be no services. "When someone you love becomes a memory…..that memory becomes a treasure." In Memoriam Now that weather is cooling, 1st Assembly of God Church is closing their cooling center. The church plans on reopening in the spring when temperatures increase. Cooling center closes
