Sigma Recruits Largest Fall Pledge Class Gamma Phi Beta Welcomes 73 New Members T he fall semester is off to a great start at the Gamma Phi Beta house. With a successful recruitment, two great sisterhood events and our fall philanthropy, we couldn't be more excited for the 2017-18 school year. We have had so much fun welcoming our new members and can't wait to see what else this year will bring. SUCCESSFUL RECRUITMENT WELCOMES 20 LEGACIES Sigma Chapter pulled off an excellent recruitment this year, adding so many beautiful and intelligent women into our sisterhood. With 73 new members, 20 of them being legacies, we received the biggest pledge class on the hill! PHILANTHROPY REMAINS TOP PRIORITY Raising more than $1,500 last spring, we had our most successful Moon Ball yet. On September 24, we held our 23rd annual Eileen Teahan Golf Tournament at Sunflower Hills Golf Course. Philanthropy Chairwoman Korbyn Caswell '15 said, "I'm so excited to put on the 2017 fall event because all of the proceeds go to Girls on the Run, International Gamma Phi Beta's philanthropy. We are so thankful to connect with Girls on the Run and look forward to working with a GOTR team of girls in Lawrence in the spring. Being even more hands on with our philanthropy will help us make some memories that will last forever!" SIGMA EXCELS ACADEMICALLY Over the summer, we learned that the women in our chapter earned an overall spring GPA of 3.44, keeping us third on The Hill. With such a high average, we were also recognized as being in the top five of all sororities and fraternities for grades for the spring semester. LOOKING AHEAD From our family weekend this September to our fall formal (Diosa!), I am thrilled to spend my final fall semester at the University of Kansas as the president of this wonderful chapter. Gamma Phi Beta has gifted me, and so many others, with the best college experience possible by being the most supportive organization on campus. I look forward to watching Sigma Chapter grow and succeed in the upcoming years! In IIKE, Lauren Frederick '14 Chapter President kugphipresident@gmail.com Sophomore sisters on Bid Day. Anna "Frankie" Muhlenbruch Stucker '44 shares, "My husband and I are 92 years old and still upright, living in a house built 55 years ago, and recently celebrated our 70th wedding anniversary. We are proud of our three children who all received their MBAs and CPAs, have executive positions, and live nearby. We feel truly blessed. I have many happy memories of my Gamma Phi days at KU. I joined the KU cheerleading squad for a photo shoot two years ago when the KU-TCU football game was held here in Fort Worth. When I was a cheerleader, there were three of us on the squad who were members of Gamma Phi Beta. I enjoy being in a seniors Gamma Phi Beta group called the Blue Mooners, in that we only meet once in a blue moon, the fifth Monday of the month."
