The Lion & The Ladybug 2 Oh, the Times They Are Exciting at Phi Mu Alpha Delta Maintains Top GPA and Wins the Ole Miss Chancellor's Cup S pring 2017 was an exceptionally exciting semester for the Alpha Delta Chapter! The members of our newly elected executive committee were eager to begin their work to help improve our Chapter in every aspect possible. In February, six executive committee members attended Phi Mu Officer Academy in Atlanta, Georgia. This summer, two emerging leaders from our 2016 new member class were selected to represent Alpha Delta at Phi Mu Leadership Institute. Phi Mu's Officer Academy and Leadership Institute gave our leaders and emerging leaders the opportunity to network with Phi Mus from Chapters across the country and bring back new and innovative ideas to Alpha Delta. LOCAL AND NATIONAL SUCCESS Alpha Delta continues to be recognized locally and nationally for our many successes. Each year Ole Miss hosts the Greek Awards as an opportunity to recognize and encourage excellence in the fraternal community. This year Phi Mu submitted nominations for eight individual awards. Megan McLeod '14 was given the Trailblazer Award, Caroline McLeod '16 received the Outstanding Emerging Leader Award and our Chapter adviser, Anne Cofer '03, was awarded named Outstanding Adviser. But the most thrilling part of the evening was when Phi Mu was awarded the Chancellor's Cup, the most prestigious award that a Greek organization at Ole Miss can receive! On top of that, Alpha Delta was recognized as the highest fundraising Phi Mu Chapter for LeBonheur in 2016, after raising $45,610. We were also the largest contributing collegiate Chapter for the Phi Mu Foundation's M3 Campaign for the third year in a row. MISSION TRIPS AND SOCIAL EVENTS Our spring calendar was overflowing with events for Chapter members and alumnae. Thirteen of our members spent their spring break serving on a mission trip in the Dominican Republic. In April, we hosted an Easter egg hunt for the families of our alumnae. Members and alumnae celebrated our founders at a Founder's Day brunch at the Chapter House. Our annual Bonnamu philanthropy event was a success, raising over $18,000 for CMNH. Additionally, parents traveled to Oxford for Parent's Weekend. Our parents and members enjoyed a social event Friday night, crawfish boil on Saturday and concluded with a Sunday brunch put on by the House Corporation. Every four years, Alpha Delta hosts the Carnation Ball as our spring formal. This elegant black-tie affair held at The Columns in Memphis culminated the spring semester. ACADEMIC ACCOMPLISHMENTS Through our dedication to academic excellence, Alpha Delta achieved a 3.22 overall GPA spring semester and 53 of our members received a 4.0 GPA. We had the fifth highest GPA out of 34 Greek organizations in the fraternity and sorority community academic report for the spring. All of Alpha Delta's hard work and success throughout the spring semester was highlighted when we were chosen as the featured Chapter in the collegiate pride section of the 2017 summer issue of The Aglaia. PHILANTHROPIC EVENTS The beginning of the fall semester is in full swing, and we hope to have another exciting school year. Alpha Delta is eagerly awaiting the arrival of Phi Mu Foundation President Kris Bridges, Delta Nu and National President Beth Monnin, Rho '83, to celebrate another victory as the largest contributing collegiate Chapter for the M3 Campaign. Our philanthropic work will continue as we will host not one, but two events benefitting Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. Philanthropy Chairman Cailtyn Connell '14 held our first-ever Milkshakes for Miracles event on August 30 and has planned Cheesin' for the Children on November 8 at Phi Mu. Additionally, our membership director, Sally Rychlak '15, and her recruitment team have been hard at work preparing for another successful recruitment. We will have the opportunity to share our sisterhood, philanthropy and values during formal recruitment September 17-24. We are counting down the days until our vibrant new members run home to Phi Mu. The Alpha Delta Chapter strives to be the best that we can be, and we are so thankful for all of your love and support. Be on the lookout for upcoming events and information regarding ways to stay involved and support our Chapter. We hope to see you this fall, and Go Rebs! Love in Our Bond, Phaedra Craig '14 Chapter President alphadelta.pres@gmail.com This year at the annual Greek Awards, Phi Mu was awarded the Chancellor's Cup. Chapter President Phaedra Criag '14 accepts this prestigious award on behalf of the Chapter. It highlighted the hard-working efforts and outstanding qualities of our Chapter in the Greek community at Ole Miss. This past spring, a group of 13 members took the first mission trip in the Alpha Delta Chapter to the Dominican Republic. They spent the week serving others, the Lord, and each other while they created new lasting friendships that they brought back to our Chapter. Morgan Baker '16, Taylor Huey '14, Anna Caroline Keefe '14, Sydni Peterson '16, Christine Higgins '15, and Sydney Mitchell '16. We are always so thankful to celebrate our founding sisters on our annual Founder's Day brunch at the house. Our sisterhood is so cherished between members.
