Redstone Federal Credit Union recently
awarded $65,000 in scholarships to 14
students as part of its commitment to
higher education and brighter futures.
Students received $4,650, which is paid
directly to their college or university.
Redstone has awarded more than $400,000
in scholarships since the program's inception
in 1996.
Joel Guske, Redstone's Vice President of
Innovation, gave the dinner speech. Guske
challenged the scholarship recipients to work
hard, have passion for their work, and be
open to change and new ideas. "ose traits
fuel innovation," he said.
e scholarship committee received and
reviewed 465 applications. ose students
are pursuing associate's or bachelor's
degrees from colleges and universities all
over the country and from RFCU's seven
partner schools, which comprise educational
institutions located near branch offices.
Students were scored on their essay and their
service to others.
e scholarship application process opens
each year in late December and ends in early
March. Scholarship recipients are announced
by May 31.

college/university they will attend are:
Rachel Guthrie, Auburn University;
Rachel Hammond, University of Alabama
in Huntsville; Lisa Martina Henderson,
Oakwood University; Maxwell Gardner,
Middle Tennessee State University;
Christopher Heningburg, J.F. Drake State
Community College; Elana Pate, Calhoun
Community College; Mallory Newton,
Athens State University; William Clark
McAllister, Alabama A&M University;
Ashton Moran, Martin Methodist College;
Leah Sneddon, University of Alabama;
Zoe Katherine Myers, Samford University;
Kailey Sanders, Martin Methodist College;
Elizabeth Whitman, Troy University;
and Jake Christa, Northeast Mississippi
Community College.
