Persimmon St. • Fayetteville Women receive care and compassion at Springwoods Behavioral Health By sarah haney nWa DemoCrat-Gazette Springwoods Behavioral Health, located at 1955 W. Truckers Drive, is an 80 bed behavioral health facility providing comprehensive care for adolescents, adults, geriatrics and most recently a unit designed exclusively for women. The six acre campus opened in 2009 and is adjacent to a 123 acre Audubon Wildlife and Bird Sanctuary, providing a secluded and serene setting for comfort and healing. Located off Highway 112, the facility is easily accessible to residents of Northwest Arkansas and the surrounding communities. Springwoods Behavioral Health currently operates the only program in Arkansas dedicated to women's mental health – the Center for Women. The Center for Women was founded in 2013 and provides a safe and nurturing community where women of all ages offer each other hope and support as they move through life stages. Treatment is comprehensive and individualized with a focus on crisis stabilization. The goal is to help patients, stabilize, develop healthy lifestyle patterns, identify and begin to heal the emotional issues that trigger symptoms and develop the coping skills needed to prevent relapse. Women pursue symptom management through building new strength and finding new resources to regain command of their lives. The Center for Women is a specialty program designed to meet the unique need of women including: • Depressive disorders related to reproductive issues: loss of pregnancy, postpartum depression and psychosis, breast feeding and psychiatric medication, fertility and menopause. • Anxiety and obsessive disorders. • Relationship issues. • Eating disorders not requiring medical hospitalization. Services offered at the Center for Women include a full continuum of mental health services exclusively for women. A professional team of psychiatrists, master's prepared therapists, physicians and 24/7 nursing care, and the development of a collaborative interdisciplinary treatment plan. It also includes integration, education, and coordination with primary care providers and the referring agency and an active individualized discharge plan. Springwoods Behavioral Health accepts referrals from the professional community (doctors, hospitals, therapists, social workers, nurses, schools, courts and community agencies) as well as from families. Qualified assessment and referral staff perform assessments 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, at no charge. Each assessment is evaluated by a physician who recommends the appropriate level of care for treatment. Recommendations are then discussed with the patient/family to assist in making an informed decision about treatment. Springwoods Behavioral Health is a provider for most insurance/managed care plans, as well as Medicare, and is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JTC) and licensed by the Arkansas Department of Health.
