April 2010 Big Sweep Help keep the water in Cumberland County clean and beautiful by partici- pating in the NC Big Sweep Spring Watershed Clean-up. Starting at 9 am on Saturday, May 1, volunteers will remove litter from streams and lakes around Cumberland County, with 99 other NC counties also cleaning their waterways. To volunteer or learn more, call 910-257-7614. May Day at the Garden PWC invites you to celebrate the Earth during May Day at the Cape Fear Botanical Garden on Sunday, May 2. The admission-free festivities are spon- sored by PWC. The Garden opens at 1 pm and children’s make-and-take earth- friendly crafts will be available. Children can make things such as May baskets, headbands, rain sticks, water wheels and decorative photo cards. Food and drinks will be for sale. Visit the PWC booth for conservation items.
