Candace Cameron Bure, DJ Tanner-Fuller on Netflix's "Fuller House" (which returns for its third season Friday, Sept. 22), is a woman of many talents: actress, talk-show host, producer, author, "Dancing With the Stars" competitor. But what you might not know is that she's also very into wine and with her husband, former NHL star Valeri Bure, co-owns the Napa Valley-based Bure Family Wines. "We've always loved food and wine, especially Val; we're definitely foodies," Cameron Bure explains. "So Val knew that when his hockey career would eventually wind down, he wanted something else to do. So he got involved in winemaking. We had taken some trips to Napa and then he just started really learning the craft probably five years before he retired, and started setting up things so that he could go into that business once he did retire." "We farm everything, tend everything," she continues. "And we're a very small boutique winery. Our production is very small but very high end." Indeed, a look at the company's website, www.burefamilywines.com, reveals a mix of cabernet sauvignons (one of which is an estate wine), a chardonnay and a sauvignon blanc, with small releases and no prices listed, though other online retailers price them at upward of $100 a bottle. Cameron Bure says her husband learned the business literally from the ground up, from growing and harvesting the grapes, to mixing the wine and marketing and selling it. He's especially interested in the mixing and in that he takes a very active role. "We have ... a wonderful winemaker, Luc Morlet," Cameron Bure says. "But Val sits with him and does all the blending with him and ultimately Val chooses and blends for what he likes and his palate and obviously trusts Luc a lot. But a lot of times Val will just say, 'It's not what I want. Nope, it's not what I want.' And they continue to blend and blend together until Val is happy with that." What is your favorite book? "I'll say 'The Pilgrim's Progress' by John Bunyan." What is your next project? "I have quite a bit. I have a new book coming out called 'Staying Stylish' that is coming out at the end of November and I'll have a new Christmas movie on Hallmark Channel at the end of November. And then I'll have three new mystery movies for my mystery movie series on Hallmark Mysteries and Movies channel, the Aurora Teagarden series. And another two books next year will be released as well. So I've got a lot going on." What is your favorite movie? " 'Crazy, Stupid, Love.' " Who is your favorite musical artist? "John Mayer."
