The foster-to-adopt agency has been successfully completing adoptions since 2003 as a part of the larger organization that has been helping children since the 1950s. Through the foster care programs, children in need of a temporary, out-of-home placement are paired with foster parents who provide a nurturing, family environ- ment. Children served are ages birth to 21 who must leave their own families for weeks, months or several years due to dysfunction in the home. The goal of Fami- ly Foster Care is to reunite children with their families or pre- pare them for adop- tion or independent living. The Therapeu- tic Foster Care program serves children in need of a more inten- sive, therapeutic environment. The child is placed with licensed, therapeutic foster parents who work with therapeutic foster care consultants, clini- cians, case managers and other treatment team mem- bers to define the child's treatment needs and assist them in making progress toward his/her set goals. Children need parents who are dedicated, loving and patient to see them through the good and not-so-good times. Though each child has a unique story, they have all been identified by Area Departments of Social Ser- vices as abused, neglected, or abandoned. As many as 260 vulnerable children are cared for through the services provided by B&GH at any given time. To learn more, visit www.boysandgirlshomes.org or call 1.877.211.5322.
