2A Daily News– Wednesday, October 10, 2012 Community people&events Golf tournament for RB pool The Blues for the Pool Second Annual Fall Scram- ble will take place at 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, at Oak Creek Golf Course. Cost is $120 per four-person team, each person will receive a tri-tip lunch as well as being eligible for many prizes. Raffle tickets are available the day of the tournament and will feature golf certificates from 10 surrounding golf courses: two-person or four-person. A 50-50 raffle, as well as closest to the pin will round out the day. All proceeds will go to the Blues for the Pool Com- mittee to help with special projects for the 2013 sum- mer at the McGlynn Pool of Red Bluff. Costume contest Saturday Sacred Heart School will host its Annual Costume Contest once again at the Calico Faire on Saturday, Oct. 13, at the Tehama District Fairground. Judging begins at 1 p.m. in front of the stage. First and second prizes will be awarded for the three age groups plus prizes for prettiest princess and scariest costume. The lecture will covers the use of herbs and supple- ments before,during and after treatment. Moroccan Pot Roast This recipe for Moroccan Pot Roast is from the 1992 National Beef Cook-Off. 1/4 cup all-purpose flour 1 teaspoon salt (optional) 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper 2 tablespoons olive oil 1 cup apple juice 1 cup water 3 pound boneless beef chuck shoulder pot roast sliced 1/2 cup raisins 1 teaspoon curry powder 3 medium onions, sliced 2 cooking apples, peeled and Combine flour, salt, if desired and pepper in plastic bag; add beef pot roast, shaking to coat. Pall all of the flour mixture onto the surface of meat. Brown pot roast on all sides in oil in Dutch oven over medium heat about 10 minutes. Pour off drippings. Add apple juice, water, onions, apples, raisins, and curry powder; bring to a boil. Cover tightly; cook in 325-degree oven 2 to 2 1/2 hours or until pot roast is tender, basting occasionally.
