26 • SEPTEMBER 2017 • OZARK LIVING e Northwest Arkansas Board of Realtors Luncheon on August 3 had many announcements, and special events take place, such as the election of the new Board of Offi cers and Director as well as the Realtor of the Year award presentation. e meeting was called to order by the board president, Suzett Sparks. Steve Brown gave and led the invocation and the Pledge of Allegiance. Ron Stinchcomb then introduced the new realtors and guests. e Realtor of the Year award was given to Suzett Sparks of Lindsey & Associates Rogers offi ce. Jennifer Silvey Welch presented the large, silver trophy to Suzett. e guest speaker was Maurice Taylor, the President of Arkansas Realtors Association. He was introduced by Richard Rolfi ngsmeyer, the incoming President of the Board. Maurice's main goal was to inform the audience that the 93rd annual Arkansas Realtor's Association Convention and Trade Show will take place September 18 – 20 at the Downtown Marriott in Little Rock. He asked the group to get involved in their boards and committees to make their associations better. is year, the convention's theme is "Be about it." Doyle Yates then discussed the Realtors Political Involvement Committee. He showed what the Peacemaking Grant had been able to do for a park in Springdale. He also told the audience that there are grant applications available and they are $5,000 per grant. He then encouraged the group to submit project ideas to the board. He said he would like to see two projects a year. Yates also let the realtors know that the Real Estate Commission would be holding meetings at the NABOR offi ce this year on September 11 starting at 9 a.m. He encouraged them to attend some of the meetings. As far as committee reports, Suzett announced that a New MLS system is coming in April and highlighted a few of the changes. Jonathan Moore then gave an ARPAC update. He said 51 percent of members are participating to date. Barbara Powers updated the audience on the Holiday party. She said it will be held December 9 at the Metroplex in Springdale. Chance Shubert then gave a report on the Realtor Recognition Awards Banquet. He said they will have a committee meeting on August 28 and invited those who might be interested in helping to join. e Special Olympics report was also given. ey are at 70 percent of goal and with Casino Night coming up, Mike said he hopes they will make their goal. Auction items were auctioned off to benefi t the Special Olympics and Rhonda Sims' cake was the prize of the auction. Finally, door prizes were handed out. e $200 drawing was held for attendance but there was no winner this month. e next meeting will be ursday, September 7. Guest speakers will be the Benton County Assessor, Rodrick Grieve, and the Washington County Assessor, Russell Hill.
