New Arizona laws go into effect Aug. 9 Calling all businesses Small Business Saturday® is a day dedicated to supporting small busi- nesses on the busiest shopping weekend of the year. Small Business Saturday was created by American Express in 2010 as a response to small business owners' most pressing need: getting more customers. Held on the Saturday following Thanksgiving, Small Business Saturday helps rally communities to support local businesses. As Small Business Saturday enters its sixth year, 55 percent of U.S. consumers re- port they are aware of the day – the highest figure yet recorded – and even more encouraging, 83 percent say Small Business Saturday inspires them to Shop Small all year long. 88 million consumers shopped small on Small Business Saturday in 2015, up 14.9 percent from 2013, spending $14.3 billion at local and in- dependent businesses. This year the hype and buzz surrounding the day seems to have only increased. Quartzsite Area Chamber of Commerce & Tourism is Quartzsite's of- ficial Neighborhood Champion working with American Express. The Chamber is seeking local businesses to participate in this year's annual Shop Small Saturday. For more information call 928-927-5200 or email QuartzsiteTourism@yahoo.com.
