Last day to purchase tickets is Oct. 16. Military — George Navy Seaman Recruit Megan R D. George, daughter of April A. Gonzalez of Oakley and Mark G. George of Red Bluff, has completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill. George is a 2012 graduate of Freedom High School of Oakley. During the eight-week program, George completed a variety of training which included classroom study and practical instruction on naval customs, first aid, fire- fighting, water safety and survival, and shipboard and aircraft safety. An emphasis was also placed on physi- cal fitness. The capstone event of boot camp is "Battle Sta- tions". This exercise gives recruits the skills and confi- dence they need to succeed in the fleet. "Battle Sta- tions" is designed to galvanize the basic warrior attrib- utes of sacrifice, dedication, teamwork and endurance in each recruit through the practical application of basic Navy skills and the core values of Honor, Courage and Commitment. Its distinctly ''Navy'' flavor was designed to take into account what it means to be a Sailor. Military — Castorena Air Force Airman Louis D.
