OUR CHALLENGES AND OPPORTUNITIES
T
he experience of being a member of Alpha Chi goes well beyond the
bricks and mortar of our house. We had an excellent experience and
thrived not because of the house at 304 South Jackson, but because of the
brotherhood we shared. Likewise, the new members of Alpha Chi have
grown together and will continue to have an excellent fraternity experience
even without a house on campus to call their own. Currently, we have a
short-term agreement to occupy the old Alpha Tau Omega house on the
row. However, this is only a temporary solution to a long-term problem.
A fraternity cannot survive and thrive on the Mississippi State campus
without a competitive facility to call home. We recognize this is not
something that can be changed overnight, but we now have a plan to secure
our future, and we urge all Alpha Chi alumni to thoughtfully consider your
role in supporting this important project. This is an opportunity to build
a secure future for Phi Kappa Tau at Mississippi State by ensuring future
generations of Alpha Chi brothers can share the same experiences we were
privileged to enjoy.
By building a competitive, safe, and modern facility, we will ensure our
student members recruit the best men on campus through a values-based
recruiting approach. A new house also presents alumni with a place to call
home on game days and other occasions in Starkville. Our new house will
be a proud symbol of our vision for excellence on the Mississippi State
campus. However, we can only complete this project with the support of
alumni and friends of Alpha Chi.
