PAGE 3 SIGMA CHI FRATERNITY L ast semester, our chapter was able to reach the milestone of a 3.0 GPA. We were within 0.05 points of the university average and plan to exceed that next semester. This achievement is the beginning of an upward trend that we strive to continue in years to come. Michael Greco '20, our scholarship chairman, said, "The pursuit of academics has really improved throughout the chapter. With the help of my brothers, I was even able to make the Dean's List." A major part of increasing the academic performance of the chapter has been instilling this pursuit in freshman members, so that the motto "school first" becomes habit. Our chapter is donating $25,000 to A New Era capital campaign because the improvements we are making are seen by everyone as just the beginning. Already, older brothers are remarking on how different the environment is at the chapter house now compared to just three or four years ago. The culture change sweeping our membership goes hand-in-hand with the renovations; as the chapter changes for the better, so must the chapter house. Looking to the future, recruitment of incoming freshmen is fundamental. Noticeably, there has been much more discussion about academic performance in high school and discussions with the full chapter regarding potential members, so the recruitment chairmen have support and a variety of opinions. Also, we plan on fully implementing Sigma Chi's national recruitment program, Mission 365, to ensure that future pledge classes will continue to better our chapter.
