Despite its title, "Sean in the Wild" has nothing to do with wildlife, wilderness or anything about the woods. Instead, the series on the First We Feast YouTube channel takes host Sean Evans ("Hot Ones") to places here and abroad to sample the unusual and the exotic and/or to offer up how-tos on things like the proper way to grill a steak or the finer points of making sushi. Along the way, celebrities join him. It's a little bit of this and a little bit of that and something any self-respecting foodie will want to check out. "When we come up with these concepts," the Chicago native explains, "it's usually about finding something that's going to fit the celebrity guest. "So like with Raekwon for example," he continues, "it's been 22 years I think since his hit song 'Ice Cream' came out, so we're like, 'What do we do with Raekwon?' We're like, 'Oh, we should do an ice cream thing with Raekwon.' And then it was like, 'Well, where do we do the ice cream thing at?' And it's like, 'Oh well, Nick Morgenstern is this interesting ice cream maker who has a chef 's touch and this totally cool shop on the Lower East Side. So it's like, if we can get him to buy into this whole thing, then that will feel like a pretty cool video. And then Nick just happens to be a huge Wu-Tang Clan fan who was influenced specifically by that 'Ice Cream' song and so it kind of like turned out to be this sort of beautiful experience for everybody." In another episode, Evans and the rock band Papa Roach chow down on various insects, among them scorpions, crickets and mealworms. While he admits he had to gird himself to bring the dried creatures to his lips, he says they didn't taste bad and he even found the experience mind-expanding. "I'm not the type of person to just eat crickets or whatever, like it's difficult for me, too," he says. "But learning about those things and appreciating those things and understanding that it does take less water, less energy (to produce them as food). And then you start to think even about just food in general, you can walk away feeling like your perspective has changed a little bit just over the course of an afternoon shoot, and that was probably in a lot of ways the most impactful." Sean Evans What book are you currently reading? "I just read 'Astrophysics For People in a Hurry' ... which was great." What did you have for dinner last night? "For dinner last night, I ordered these amazing tacos – corn tortilla, soft chicken tacos from this Mexican restaurant in my neighborhood." What is your next project? "The projects are always kind of kickin' so 'Hot Ones' is wrapping its third season now, so we'll take a little vacation but then it's right back up to Season 4. And then we have this other show called 'Sean in the Wild' that I'm doing. So right now, two shows, which keeps me pretty busy." When was your last vacation, where and why? "My last vacation, I went to Scottsdale, Ariz., which I do every year because I like to go to spring training. I go to spring training, go down to Arizona, catch some Cubs games, catch some Sox games. A lot of my buddies from Chicago, we kind of make the pilgrimage together out there, so that's what I did in March. ... We do it every year."
