This will be the fi rst time in 50 years that he will be back in the Mount Snow ski area in southern Vermont where he is booked for several shows in the Wilmington Memorial Town Hall. Back in the 70s he played at a place called Fat City, which was the largest rock and roll club in Vermont. He was the house act for 1-1/2 years and was known in those days as Sweet Pie. He will be playing two evenings at the Memorial Hall in Wilmington on Saturday August 12 and Sun- day August 13 with the shows starting at 8 p.m. After Wilmington, he will be at Salisbury Beach in Massachusetts, where he played for 90 nights each summer from 1971 to 1974 and was known as the Mayor of Salisbury Beach by those on the beach. He went back 7 years ago for a reunion benefi t concert after Hurricane Sandy destroyed much of the beach and boardwalk, and played to over 1000 people for the one show. This time, he will be playing for 11 days and nights--3 afternoon shows, and the rest at night, at Uncle Eddie's just off the beach. The dates are August 16-27. He was known as the Baron of bare-ass boogie. He will be doing his shows as Sweet Pie and also as Paul Winer -like the shows he does in this area, so his fans of all ages will get to see what he is doing now. Travelling back east with Paul will be his whole All-Star Sweet Stomp Orchestra, which has been playing together for the past year, and whose members consist of new friends and old buddies from way back. Will Pirone, childhood friend and virtuoso harmonica player who played with Paul in the 70s, has been fl ying out to Quartzsite for the past 7 years to play with Paul at the Q.I.A. and other places. He now lives in Maine so he will be driving to Vermont for the fi rst shows as well as the ones in Salisbury Beach. Buddy Apfel, newest member of the band, comes from Phoenix to play in some of Paul's concerts in this area, plays tuba and trombone, and will be fl ying to the east coast for these concerts. Local musician, songwriter and good friend Steve Hohstadt, guitar player with Paul's shows since Jerry Mullins passed away a few years ago, and also produces the CDs and DVDs of the shows. He will be driving back east since he has to go to Texas after these concerts for another festi- val before coming back home to Quartzsite.
