ALPHA XI CHAPTER | SOUTHERN METHODIST UNIVERSITY Gamma Phi Beta 5 Investing in Our Future O ur investment in the future of Alpha Xi Chapter will ensure the success of our chapter and promote a legacy upon which to build an even greater sisterhood. Today, perhaps more than ever, sororities play a relevant role in shaping the lives of young women. Gamma Phi Beta provides a group-living environment that offers our members a solid foundation for their education, as well as opportunities for high academic achievement and the development of leadership and social skills. There is a need for organizations dedicated to the advancement of women, supporting and mentoring them to become strong, capable leaders, and providing emotional support for the tough challenges facing today's college students. The undergraduate women have already made a commitment to work hard in continuing the programs and traditions that have benefited the lives of so many sisters over the years. Together with our collegiate members, the Alpha Xi AHC is committed to this major undertaking, which will allow us to update our chapter house and compete with other sororities and housing options at SMU. This stage of our project requires assistance from a highly selective group of alumnae like you. We are working to identify sisters who have both the ability and interest to provide major assistance to the project. Remember that each of us benefited from the generosity, work, and sacrifices of those who went before us. We all enjoyed the comfort and sisterhood Alpha Xi provided during our years at Southern Methodist University. Now it is our turn to ensure that the same wonderful experience is available to others. We urge your thoughtful consideration of this project. The commitment we make today cannot be underestimated—it will have a ripple effect on the lives of our Gamma Phi Beta women for years to come. "I began my involvement with the Alpha Xi Chapter in 1988, first as a member of the Dallas alumnae, then with the chapter advisory board. I was present when the chapter recruited during the 1989 reorganization after my chapter, Alpha Zeta at UT-Austin, was closed. Most recently, I was president of the AHC until I moved to Houston in October 2016. I believe in the importance of active house corporation, advisory, and alumnae boards and I actively recruit alumna volunteers to assist. I remain committed to serving on the housing committee, ensuring the continuity of the Alpha Xi Chapter for many years to come. It is my hope that Gamma Phi Beta alumnae will lend their time and talents to ensure the future of Alpha Xi Chapter." – Nancy Chuoke Enright, Alpha Zeta '81, Housing Committee
