With apologies to Three Dog Night, Jeremiah Bullfrog is a good friend to the foodie. In his culinary docu-series "Jeremiah Bullfrog Forks It!," which posts three new episodes each Monday on go90.com, the unconventional master chef swaggers his way through various American cities, bringing viewers along as he takes in the local food culture and puts his own street gourmet spin on local favorites. "We kind of started off with one plan and it just kind of morphed into something completely different," the Miami native explains. "We just kind of put together a list that was strongly based on connections that I have with either chefs or restaurateurs. Then we had a couple of curveballs there in the middle and we just kind of rolled with the punches and just ended up having a lot of fun." Among the places the chef visits in each nine-minute episode are New Orleans, where he prepares a creole spread for bounce artist Big Freedia; Oakland, Calif., where he does a Chinese/Mexican mash-up for a group of hip-hop dancers; Atlanta, the scene of a soul-food feedbag for rap artists; and Chicago, where he cooks up a five-course dinner for improv comics. At each stop, the larger-than-life Bullfrog and his irreverent sense of humor bring the fun as he eats, drinks and jokes with the locals. Along the way, he takes viewers inside hidden hotspots that only the natives know about. In the first three episodes, he heads to Wisconsin to see how cheese and bratwurst are made in Milwaukee and Madison, and then prepares a tailgate spread to make a cheesehead salivate at a Wisconsin Badgers football game. "I was blown away. It's the first time I've ever been there. I was very impressed ...," he says. "We went in there with that mentality of all the sort of stereotypical things, and then when we got there I think the first place we ate was this little French cafe in Madison and I was just blown away by – I mean, even Milwaukee, what they've got going on. If it wasn't so frickin' cold, I'd probably move there myself." Chef Jeremiah Bullfrog What book are you currently reading? "I usually read three books at the same time. Let me take a look at Kindle real quick. I've got a copy of 'Zahav' from Michael Solomonov open. It's kind of like research and reading at the same time. 'Gjelina' (by) Travis Lett, a chef out of the West Coast, Venice Beach. And third on my list is 'The Elements of Pizza' (by) Ken Forkish. He's an amazing baker and he kind of gives you the scoop on the wonders of bread at home." What did you have for dinner last night? "I had chicken cacciatore with linguini." What is your next project? "Hopefully, a thousand more episodes of 'Fork It!' " When was your last vacation, where and why? "We went to New Orleans for Jazz Fest."
