p. 5 www.ufato.org University of Florida Ronald G. Crowder '66 is retiring from the Colorado judiciary in early 2017, having served the last four years as a senior district judge. Ron retired from the U.S. Army as a major general in 2007. He continues to maintain a private law practice as a mediator and arbiter. Check in with Ron at crowderg@gmail.com. John Jennings '75, Worthy Master '77, will be awarded the Silver Antelope Award by the National Court of Honor of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) at the BSA national meeting in May 2017. The Silver Antelope Award is the highest honor awarded by a BSA region for service to youth involved in scouting. The BSA Southern Region, from which John was nominated for the award, contains 13 states, 800,000 scouts, and 275,000 registered adults. Blake Dowling '92 is the CEO of Aegis Business Technologies based in Tallahassee, Florida. Scott McClelland '92 is the vice president and relationship manager for FIRST Insurance Funding Corp., a Wintrust company. Scott can be reached at scottmc714@gmail.com. John Pughe '02 got married in July 2014 to Janelle, an educator from Pennsylvania and a graduate of Catawba College. In July 2016, they welcomed their son, Ewan, into the world. During the 2016 presidential campaign cycle, Brother Pughe served as Florida Deputy State Political Director and South Florida Strategist for President Donald Trump and supported the campaigns National Strike Team with operations and special projects. He traveled to Arizona, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, and Texas during the campaign to augment ground teams in these areas. Brother Pughe will be reporting t o W a s h i n g t o n , D.C., to serve at the U.S. Department of Commerce during the Trump Administration. Spicola '02 has been appointed as the general counsel for the 37-member Florida Constitution Revision Commission, which convenes once every 20 years for the purpose of reviewing Florida's Constitution and proposing changes for voter consideration. Prior to joining the commission, Will had served since April 2016 as general counsel in the executive office of Governor Rick Scott. In an announcement of the transition, Governor Scott stated: "The CRC only comes once every 20 years, and it is an incredible honor that Will has the opportunity to serve in such an important role for the future of our state. I have enjoyed working with Will over the many years he has served in my administration and know that he will do a tremendous job in this leadership role at the CRC." Alex Travis '09 graduated from the UF Levin College of Law in May 2016 and passed the Florida bar exam. Alex is pursuing an L.L.M. in taxation at UF with anticipated graduation in May 2017. Alumni Wedding Notes Patrick Nutt '99 married Kelly Addison, of Branford, Fla., on November 19, 2016. Kelly was an active member of Kappa Delta sorority at the University of Florida. Patrick and Kelly reside in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Ryan Will '99 married Bryn McGuire on April 14 in Daytona Beach, Fla. The wedding party included best man Steven Will '01. Bob Bachtler '03 married Joanna Farah, of Charlotte, North Carolina, on May 6, 2017. The wedding party included groomsmen Chris Didier '02, Matt Donovan '02, and Jameel Ghata '02. Brent Lowman '04 married Megan Dobbins, of Mint Hill, North Carolina, on April 8, 2017, near Tampa, Florida. The wedding party included best man Worth Graham '04 and groomsmen Danny Perez '05 and Jack Robbins. Brent and Megan met in Raleigh, North Carolina, in 2013 while he was stationed at Camp Lejeune with the U.S. Marine Corps. The couple resides in Tampa where Megan is a pediatric registered nurse at St. Joseph's Children's Hospital and Brent practices law with the Lowman law firm. Chapter Eternal Alpha Omega extends sincerest condolences and eternal love and respect William Murray Hamner Jr. '54 entered Chapter Eternal on March 15, 2016. Born on September 10, 1934, in West Palm Beach, Fla., to Evelyn and William Murray Hamner Sr., Murray attended Palm Beach High School and graduated from the University of Florida in 1957. Drafted into the United States Navy, he attended officer candidate school and spent four years serving his country as a naval officer. Returning from the military, Murray poured all his energy into a career path that was highly successful as a certified public accountant, including 25 years growing his business dream into a personal success story at W. M. Hamner P.A. In 2009, Murray joined the team of Blue Ocean Capital, where he continued to steward his clients' affairs until just before his passing. Murray was passionate about the Kiwanis Club and his church, Holy Trinity. This commitment is a testament to how Murray lived his life; a strong desire to improve the lives of others with unwavering dedication. Brother Hamner is survived by his wife of 39 years, Pegi, who expressed in a note to the Alpha Omegan that "he was the most caring and considerate husband." ALUMNI UPDATE SHARE YOUR NEWS WITH US!
