PREP FIELD HOCKEY Corning beats Pleasant Valley 4-1 By DN Staff Report The Corning Cardi- nals beat Pleasant Val- ley 4-1 on the road Monday on scores from Bailey Jennings, Keara Terras, Raylee Sutfin and Sam Lund after the team overcame a slow start. Scherzer entered the game with a major league- leading 220 strikeouts and added four more to that total before being relieved by Downs after only two innings. He's expected to go a couple days without throwing, then be evaluated again. After a gut-wrenching 5- 4 loss to the White Sox in Chicago on Monday, the Tigers were back home, where they've now won 27 of 35. Ragone is regarded as a leader on the team, which has opened to a 3- 0 start. Brandon Ragone struck first 1:30 into the game. Terras scored the equalizer 10:20 into the game off an assist from Maria Diaz. Jennings drove hard 18:35 into the game to put the Cardinals ahead 2-1. In the second half, Sutfin scored on a drive with an assist from Jennings, and, later, Sam Lund sprinted for the ball and scored the fourth goal for Corning. Pleasant Valley today.
