Beta would like to share with you an update
on the future home of the Alabama Beta Chapter
of Sigma Phi Epsilon. The move-in date for the
undergraduate members is planned for spring
2018. The actual completion date for renovation
with certificate of occupancy is projected to be in
November 2017. Once the certificate of occupancy
is obtained and furniture is purchased, the Chapter
will move furnishings into the new house.
This journey has been five years in the making and
we now have made substantial progress toward
opening day. SigEp National Housing Corporation
worked with the University to obtain the financing
on the new house. The cost for the house,
renovations, and furniture will be over $5 million.
The financing of the real property is funded
through fees for rent and meals. Furnishings and
social function items are funded by alumni and
Chapter donors. Now is the time to take a renewed
ownership interest in our Chapter. We hope this
new home serves as motivation for all our Alumni
to visit and contribute.
All demo work is complete and the approved
contractors are constructing the add-on structure
in the rear of the house. The following are a
few highlights to the new Chapter House:
Ϗ Housing for 34 men
Ϗ Dining area to hold between 80 to 100
members
Ϗ Alumni room for alumni social during
events and ballgame weekends
Ϗ Stand-alone social/party room
Ϗ Second-floor lounge for members living
in the house
Ϗ Third-floor Chapter room
The undergraduates are excited about having a
new destination to call home. Our hope is that
our alumni will also feel excited about being
back on University Boulevard.
We are planning a ribbon cutting ceremony for
later this year when construction is completed.
We will send e-mail and other correspondence
to welcome all alumni to the event, and for a
first-hand look at the house and property. Be
on the lookout for more details to come.
Fraternally,
Alabama Beta AVC
