FA R M H O U S E F R AT E R N I T Y * WA S H I N G T O N S TAT E U N I V E R S I T Y * S P R I N G 2 0 1 7 G reetings, FarmHouse brothers and friends. e alumni association convened in Spo- kane on March 4 for a service project and our regular spring meeting. Prior to the meeting, a group of alumni and undergraduate members met for a service project at the Second Har- vest Food Bank and spent several hours sorting and packaging food. In total, we sorted 21,000 pounds of food, which is the equivalent of 18,000 meals to the needy. e day culminated with a celebration of Wayne Engstrom '60 being awarded the Master Builder award. Many alumni from the early years of the chapter as well as their spouses and Wayne's daughter attended. ere were many stories told and a lot of laughter had by all. ank you to everyone who was able to make this event; it truly was a great day filled with service, camaraderie, and celebration. Another important milestone this spring was the paying off of the annex mortgage. In the ear- ly 2000s, a mortgage was taken out against the annex to pay for the complete renovation of the rental house to turn the then-dilapidated house into a profitable rental property. For the past sev- eral years, the association has aggressively paid down the loan with the rental income generat- ed, and early this spring made the final payment. e foresight of the association board 15 years ago has now provided us with a steady rental in- come, which now will go into a savings fund to continue to secure the future of FarmHouse at Washington State. is summer, there will be several alumni events taking place across the state that we would love to see you at. If you plan to attend any of the events below, please communicate with Eric Hausken '98 at (509) 318-0131 or wsu.alumnipr@gmail.com. • June 17: Sun Lakes State Park barbe- cue and corn hole tournament. e main course, barbecue, will be provid- ed. Please bring side dishes to share. • July 22: Picnic in Portland, Ore. • August 5: Spokane Indians game • October 21: WSU football Homecoming game. We will have a block of seats together and tailgate beforehand. We will also have our fall association meeting at the chapter house. Watch for details on meeting time. Also keep in mind that the undergraduate mem- bers are always looking for good candidates to join our brotherhood. Our alumni network is one of the strongest recruiting tools we have, so please do not be shy about forwarding informa- tion to Recruitment Chairman Justin Moore '14 at justin.moore@wsu.edu.
