pring 2017 has been filled with
many accomplishments for the
active members of Alpha Chi Omega
at Kansas State University!
RAISING AWARENESS
In February, Gamma Zeta hosted a new
philanthropy event, Donut Let Love Hurt, at
our chapter house. Members of other chapters
at K-State, as well as non-Greek students,
stopped by 1835 Todd for an evening of coffee,
doughnuts, and doughnut-themed games. The
event was a success, and we look forward to
hosting another in the future. We also partnered
with Triangle fraternity for their annual Duck
Race at Pillsbury Crossing. Members from
both groups set up a table in the K-State Union
to promote and fundraise for the event and on
April 2, we helped host a barbecue and raced
rubber ducks.
RECRUITING NEW ALPHA CHIS
Vice President of Recruitment Bre Hill '14
and Vice President of New Member Education
Shelby Venjohn '15 joined forces to ensure
a successful continuous open bidding for the
semester. Gamma Zeta welcomed its 10 spring
initiates by taking them bowling at the K-State
Union for their Bid Night.
GREEK WEEK ACHIEVEMENTS
Ellen Blackwell '14 and Kylie Wilcox '14
served as co-chairmen for Greek Week, which
Gamma Zeta helped organize in February,
along with Sigma Alpha Epsilon and Sigma
Phi Epsilon. The week included fun festivities
for the entire K-State Greek community and
Gamma Zeta was thrilled to earn second
place overall! Our chapter also placed third
in the Greeks Got Talent competition with our
superhero-themed performance of "Holding
Out for a Hero" from the movie Footloose.
MOLDING LEADERS
I was fortunate to attend the Leadership
Academy held by AXΩ headquarters in
Indianapolis on January 27-29, along with
Moriah Wood '15 and Brenna Jellison '15.
The event was informative, and we left with
more in-depth knowledge of our executive
positions and how to better collaborate on
chapter-related issues.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, GAMMA ZETA!
On Wednesday, March 29, we celebrated
our 70th anniversary as a chapter at K-State
and marked the event with an open house
on April 1. Visiting alumnae received tours,
cookies, and reminisced about their time as
undergraduates.
With so much to look forward to the rest
of this year, Gamma Zeta has no plans to
slow down in the fall. We
appreciate each of our
alumnae and invite you to
stop by 1835 Todd in the
upcoming semester!
