We have hosted several events to reach our goals for the year and to live up to the high values that Sigma Kappa strives to achieve. Our fall 2016 chapter GPA was a 3.34, which was first for all sororities for the second semester in a row. As a result, we received an award for the highest Panhellenic GPA at Missouri State. We hope to continue this success so we have implemented new scholarship initiatives, including a most studious monthly award to recognize sisters for their hard work. On March 6, we hosted our second annual Grilled Cheese Ultra Violet event to benefit the Sigma Kappa Foundation. Everyone was welcome, even University President Clif Smart came out to support us! We raised $2,600 for the Foundation and are very excited to continue planning more philanthropy events for the fall semester. We are already starting to prep for fall formal recruitment and had a day of workshops in February. There is a heavy focus on displaying our values during recruitment. "Fall recruitment is where we show the true meaning of our sisterhood. We are working hard to plan the perfect experience!" said Natalie Oetting '14, 2017 Vice President of Membership. We were paired with Sigma Pi and Sigma Nu fraternities for Greek Week held March 26-April 1. There were several events throughout the week. In the Greek Goddess competition, Kala Miller '13 represented Sigma Kappa and did an excellent job. Our Greek jammers put over 80 hours of work into their dance and the performance turned out great. We also collected over 1,000 philanthropy items to be donated to different charities in the Ozark region. We are proud to have many girls involved with other organizations around campus. Women from Sigma Kappa serve on the executive board of Relay for Life and St. Jude's Up Til Dawn. There are also several women involved with Student Mobilization, Emerging Leaders, and clubs specific to their major. An alumnae open house and tea was held on March 21. We want to thank all of the alumnae that attended and we plan to host this event again in the future. On April 8 we hosted dad's day, which was filled with lots of fun, barbeque, and baseball! We are very proud of all our spring semester and are excited to see what the rest of the year has in store for the chapter!
