2A Daily News – Thursday, September 13, 2012 Community people&events Conference starts Friday The missions committee of Community Baptist Church, 598 Round-Up Ave., wishes to invite all who are interested to attend a three-day conference at the church, which is next to the Tehama District Fairground. This year's featured missionaries are: • Friday: Cindy Brown will be speaking on behalf of Child Evangelism Fellowship. The evening with Cindy will begin at 6:45 p.m. and cookies and root beer floats will be served. Cindy will be sharing about the CEF pro- grams that are held at several local schools. • Saturday: Spend an evening with Kent and Lila Tray- Community Baptist Missions Brewing up 'A Bewitching Affair' lor. They are formerly from Redding and for many years have been running a Bible College in Tecate, Mexico. Through their efforts, the gospel has been shared and spread throughout Mexico. The missions committee will host a barbecue in the church garden area at 5:30 p.m. • Sunday: During the Sunday service, John Cook from Indigenous Ministries will be the guest speaker. This organization works with young people from India, the Middle East and Southeast Asia to prepare them for a life- time of ministry and service to their local communities. Church starts at 9 a.m. Admission is free to all of the activities. For more information call Community Baptist Church at 527-4230. The public is invited and is welcome to attend all or some of the meetings. Childcare will be provided for all ses- sions. Birth - Moran are Brewing Up "A Bewitching Affair" which will inspire and entertain those attending their Annual Fall Floral Design Program and Luncheon. The date and place to remember for this fun filled day is October 27, 2012, Rolling Hills Casino, Corning. The club is excited to have Kate Gleim as their guest floral designer for this year's program. Kate has owned the House of Design in Red Bluff since 1995 and is known for her unique style of floral art. She has authored two design books and numerous magazine articles and has taught floral design in Europe, China and Japan, as well as most states in America. Kate's program will include elaborate holiday vignettes for Hal- loween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's. She will share many ideas for creating your own exciting holiday décor, including centerpieces, arrangements and hostess gifts. This is a program not to be missed. The day's event starts when doors open at 9:30 am to enable you to browse local vendors with a wide variety of wares. Kate and her design team from House of Design will be giving short demonstrations on how to cre- ate easy designs for your holiday décor and gifts before the program begins. you can purchase at the show so you can get started while the ideas are fresh. Fall themed centerpieces, designed by club members, adorn each table and await you're lucky winning raffle ticket. The hard part will be deciding which one will decorate your home. As with all the vendors, is always the Silent Auction. The lively and competitive bidding will keep you coming back again and again to see if a competitor has out- bid you. Rolling Hills Casino has One of the highlights of the day generously donated gift certificates to be included in the Silent Auction; they include an overnight stay with a breakfast buffet; a round of golf with cart for two; a dinner for two at Timbers Steak House. These are just three of the numerous other quality items that will entice you to try an outbid your competitor up to the very last moment of bidding. A delicious plated lunch pre- pared by Rolling Hills Chef Hobart offers guests a choice of three entrees, Flat Iron Steak, Chicken Roulade Florentine and Grilled Vegetable Lasagna, accompanied with seasonal vegetable, tossed green salad and mouth watering dessert. One of the topics was fair, the Tehama County 4-H treasurer asked the members that are taking an animal to fair to please help serve tea and water to the buyers at the Tehama Junior Livestock Auction on Sept. 29 start- ing at 10 a.m. The activity following the meeting was a swim party, where members got to swim, play pool volley- ball, and many other fun games.
