CHAPTER ETERNAL Bruce D. Large '53 (Γ669) entered Chapter Eternal on January 31, 2017, at the age of 84. Bruce was born and raised in Eastern Pennsylvania. After high school, he proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in dairy science from Penn State. His first job out of college was with a dairy in Venezuela during the revolution. When he returned to the U.S., he worked in New York, then Chicago, and grew to become a highly sought-after dairy consultant. He worked for Weavers Poultry in Lancaster County, Pa., for more than 20 years, where he became their director of research and development. Toward the end of his career, Bruce traveled to more than 50 countries as a private contractor for DuPont Protein Technologies International and then as a senior consultant for NSF—Cook and Thurber. He was recently honored by the International Food Science Certification Commission with the title of Certified Food Scientist. In addition, Bruce devoted 35 years of his life founding and serving as a board member with his wife, Darlene, for the orphanage organization Homes of the Indian Nation. Bruce was an active member of the First Baptist Church of St. Charles and a charter member of the Manheim Township Sunrise Lions Club. No matter how busy Bruce was, he always had time for his friends and family. Bruce will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him. ALUMNI NEWS John W.
