Tuesday, March 23, 2010 – Daily News – 5A Bicycle race coming to Red Bluff The Ride On Race Series, a six-race series of cyclocross events, is coming to Forward Park in Red Bluff Sunday, March 28. Cyclocross racing is bicycle racing with frequent obstacals over which riders must dismount and run, including barriers and very steep hill sections. Races are done on one- to two-mile circuits for 30, 45 or 60 minutes. It is a popular spectator event. The Red Bluff race will include a free one-lap race for children 12 and younger. Taildragger Gathering All aircraft and pilots welcome at the May 7-9 Tail- dragger Gathering at Red Bluff Municipal Airport. The event will include camping and motel transporta- tion. Friday night will be an earlybird dinner. Saturday will be Luau Night, featuring a Hawaiian shirt contest and Hula Hoop contest. There is no registration fee, donations will be accept- ed. Red Bluff students target hunger Nearly 20 members of the Red Bluff High School’s Key Club and 10 members of Red Bluff Kiwanis will participate in K- Day, a joint collaboration between Kiwanis International and its Key Clubs in Northern California, March 27. The Key Club has designated “Hunger in Red Bluff and Tehama County” as a priority and as the members’ project for K- Day. Members will be going door to door collecting non-perishable food items, which they will donate to the Red Bluff/Tehama County Chapter of the Salvation Army. The club will staff a drop-off location 8 a.m. to noon at Jack- son Heights Elementary School, on Jackson Street in Red Bluff, for those who wish to donate. Other notable finds included a red shouldered hawk, a Nutall's woodpecker and a small warbler. The next guided bird walk is scheduled for 8 a.m. Saturday, April 10 at the center, 1000 Sale Lane. Pajama-Rama Storytime Cottonwood Community Library will be holding a special Springtime evening storytime. All storytime- aged children, their siblings and their grown-up family members are invited to attend. The event will be at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 6, at the Cottonwood Community Library, 3427 Main St. Bring the whole family for a fun hour of bedtime stories. The evening will feature the book "Thunder- cake" by Patricia Polocco. Come dressed in your jam- mies, moms and dads too, and bring your blanket and stuffed animal friend if you would like. Thundercake will be served after storytime.
