We have installed a new Executive Council, have had wonderful events, traveled to Texas for College Weekend and are planning many more philanthropic events to celebrate our 150 years! EMPHASIZING ACADEMICS As a chapter we strive to attain the highest GPA possible. We have begun emphasizing a higher minimum GPA during recruitment to raise our overall GPA and to convey to Potential New Members the importance we place on academics. We have also designated study times at our chapter house and at the University library. PHILANTHROPIC EFFORTS Colorado Alpha gives back to our community and raises money for Read > Lead > Achieve ® throughout the year. On March 2, the Fraternity Day of Service, a group of 15 sisters went to the Boulder Family Learning Center to read Dr. Seuss ® books to the kids. The sisters and the kids enjoyed their time together so much we hope to continue to do it every week! We also participated in a Polar Plunge event, which raised more than $2,000 for the Special Olympics. In April, we held a philanthropic event, Pies with Pi Phi, outside the chapter house. PANHELLENIC PURSUITS We have been hosting mixers with other fraternities these past months that have gone really well and everyone has had so much fun. We also had dinner with Chi Omega at their chapter house for our new executive officers to meet. We are currently getting our chapter involved with student government on the Greek ticket to be a voice for our fraternity and sorority life system within the campus. DEVELOPING OUR SISTERHOOD We were fortunate enough to send six of our executive council members to College Weekend in Dallas where we learned great tools to strengthen our chapter and heard amazing stories from the Grand President. Colorado Alpha also participated in two secondary spring recruitments. Halle Wooten '15, Vice President of Membership, had this to share, "We are so excited to be able to share Pi Phi traditions and values with our new sisters." SPRING EVENTS For Founders' Day we are planning a celebration at the house with alumnae in the Boulder area. Additionally, there will be a scholarship dinner, in which our members are encouraged to invite professors from the University to learn about Pi Phi and awards are presented. Our Vice President of Event Planning put together an amazing Mom's Weekend. We had a great turnout, and events included brunch at the chapter house with the scrapbooks from the past and a shopping event with Free People and Urban Outfitters. In the coming months, we hope to create a signature philanthropy on campus and to continue to celebrate our 150 years. Colorado Alpha has had an amazing past few months and cannot wait to achieve our goals this semester. Thank you to all the alumnae for your support that allows us to thrive as a chapter. Please drop by the chapter house whenever you can! In Pi Phi, Nicole Pool '15 Chapter President nipo2606@colorado.edu 1 4 2 5 3 6
