W hile the Alpha Lambda experience is certainly more than the physical structure of the chapter house, our home undoubtedly plays a significant role in the development of our brothers and is a proud symbol of our shared values and goals. Built in 1964, 1015 NW Monroe has been a part of Alpha Lambda's legacy for more than 50 years. It is showing its age and maintenance costs have become significant. It is clear we must make a major investment in our chapter house if we are to remain competitive, provide a quality living environment, and continue the success of Alpha Lambda at Oregon State as we begin our second century. KEEPING OUR BROTHERS SAFE (Physical and safety needs) Maintaining a safe living environment for all of our members is of utmost importance to the house corporation. Many of the basic infrastructure elements of the facility are nearing the end of their useful life. As we move forward, a renovation or replacement of the plumbing, electrical, and fire suppression systems will be necessary. PURSUING EXCELLENCE (Academic and technology needs) Being a college student today is a balancing act. Our members are constantly on the move, requiring an atmosphere that supports their studies, campus involvement, and leadership roles. e fraternity house has always been a safe haven that fosters academic excellence; however, study space and academic needs have changed. We have all seen the impact of technology over the years. Current technology built into the chapter house is a necessity for the success of today's students. Our plan will ensure that Alpha Lambda excels academically and remains scholastic leaders on campus and within the Greek system. 3 LAMBDA CHI ALPHA ALPHA LAMBDA Our Needs and Opportunities SETTING OURSELVES APART (Competition) Today, students and their parents expect more for their housing dollars. Students are faced with a number of living options, ranging from on-campus residence halls that provide internet and air-conditioning to apartment complexes that offer fitness centers and covered parking. Additionally, other fraternities on campus have renovated recently or are planning to do so in the near future. ese options can draw our older and prospective members away from the chapter house. While we do not intend to provide all of the amenities that residence halls and apartments offer, we must present a safe, modern, and attractive facility. For Alpha Lambda to remain a premier fraternity at Oregon State, now is the time to renovate and update our facility to attract the quality of men we pride ourselves on.
