Alpha Beta Chapter of P hi Mu 3 to the campaign is not only an opportunity to create a legacy; it's an opportunity to establish a home for the active members and a foundation for our sisterhood on Arkansas' campus." The Worden women also share a special Phi Mu connection with Sharon Sims alexander '84 and her daughter, grace alexander, Alpha Zeta '13. Jo Hanna and Sharon met their freshman year at Arkansas and have remained friends ever since. Although Ashley and Grace knew each other their whole lives, when Ashley joined Alpha Beta, the two became true sisters. "It's a bond I could have never dreamed of in 1983 when Sharon and I pledged," Jo Hanna said. Jo Hanna has met several of Ashley's pledge sisters, and is impressed by the young women she's met. She's also incredibly proud of Alpha Beta as a whole and the impact they've had on Arkansas' campus. "I am especially grateful to those young ladies who were in the first recolonization pledge class," she said. I am sorry that they did not get to live in the new Chapter House, but the foundation that they have established for the chapter is outstanding. I truly believe the Alpha Beta Chapter of Phi Mu will continue to grow and thrive for generations to come." Ashley is a sophomore communication disorders major (following in her mother's footsteps) and the alumnae liaison for Alpha Beta. Jo Hanna is a speech-language pathologist for the Pulaski County Special School District. She and her husband, Grady, also have a son, Nick, who is a Sigma Nu at Arkansas. The family lives in Little Rock, Ark. Jo Hanna can be reached at jhdubya@gmail.com. A lpha Beta is so thrilled to be receiving this gift of a Chapter House. So many alumnae, mothers, aunts, and grandmothers have spoken about their times of living in their sorority houses. For most, this time has been reflected as their favorite time in college. This is the experience that the women of Alpha Beta are excited to receive. CHapTER HOuSE gRaNTS NEW OppORTuNiTiES Throughout the last few years, we have seen the opportunities that Arkansas Greek women who live in chapter houses have been afforded. Other chapters have been able to host various events at their homes such as philanthropies, Mom's Day and Dad's Day, movie nights, game nights, and sisterhood events with ease. Our new home will afford us these same opportunities. buiLdiNg a COMMON STOMpiNg gROuNd Our chapter is ready to have a central location for meetings and a place where we can study, hold practices for various events, paint banners, participate in recruitment, and host sisterhood activities. This Chapter House will be a home to our sisterhood; it will provide a place for so many important activities where we can thrive. We will have more opportunities for members to stay active and engaged. Alpha Beta sisters will be able to live under the same roof and share experiences with each other as a whole. With a Chapter House, so many experiences will finally be made possible. STRENgTHENiNg THE aLpHa bETa SiSTERHOOd The women of Alpha Beta will become closer. A house is simply a building, and though our sisterhood is strong, I truly believe our new home is a key factor in maintaining and supporting a sisterhood. We are excited to have the opportunity to make our own memories similar to those that so many of the alumnae have shared with us. Alpha Beta is so thankful for all of the alumnae efforts and endless support in helping this sisterhood get the resources it needs to thrive. An AlphA BetA Bond Continuing the FΜ Legacy R eflecting on her undergraduate years, kristie kleinheksel finney '85 recalls her favorite memories being times made possible by living in the Chapter House with her sisters: piling into the TV room to watch soap operas, the constant slumber party feel of the Lion's Den, and working on recruitment skits and banners, just to name a few. "Most of my favorite experiences were made possible by living in the Chapter House with my sisters," she said. "I am so excited that these opportunities will soon be a reality for our chapter to experience once again." As an alumna, Kristie stays connected with the active chapter by serving as the ritual advisor. She also has a special connection with Alpha Beta through her daughter, ashley finney '14. "I am over the moon excited to be able to share my sisterhood with my daughter," Kristie said. "In her, I see so much of what is written in our creed and delight in the fact that it reflects who she is and who I know she will continue to strive to be." Ashley is proud to say Phi Mu continues to recruit women who hold the same ideas today as her mother's sisters nearly 30 years ago. "It's so incredible to see her still interact with her pledge sisters, and to know that I will have those continuous relationships as well," she said. "Being able to share this sisterhood with my mother is something so unique. Not every undergraduate gets this opportunity, and to have my mom become so involved with the chapter has made it even better." (Continued on page 4)
